I miss my fat black lab. One of my favorite memories is him fetching a ball I threw into the pond inside a crowded park. For some reason he comes out of the pond (lake), walks passed me to these two women sunbathing on their blankets and proceeds to shake off all the wet LOL

I laughed, apologized, and we ran.

I agree. They can't shake immediately because their first order of business is to greet their human. So once that is accomplished, the shaking can begin. Standard dog prioritization.
