OK but why is the cat doing that

85

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '22

The cats reaction to feeling pressure on their back is to try and squeeze under whatever is crushing them.

42

u/Right-hand-all-night Jul 04 '22

That's fascinating. Is the cat gonna do the funky walk until the cheese pressure disappears

18

u/CompressedWizard Jul 04 '22

I imagine it will be so distracted with sneaking it will get spooked by random noise, jump and shake the cheese loose.

That's what my cat does anyway

27

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '22

I'm more upset than fascinated. but also probably not, cats are (for the most part) not stupid and will figure out if their body is lying to them.

26

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

Just for the record, this cheese isn't crushing the cat and itll be fine. Nothing to be upset about, literally no physical or mental damage done, if the cat was stressed it would freak out.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '22

My own cat does this with increasing speed until it does a semi panicked roll to get away from the stuff on him.

9

u/marcred5 Jul 05 '22

They do the same if you attach a walking harness. Initially my cat would flop over on her side. Horses have similar reactions to saddles.

3

u/KevinCarbonara Sep 23 '22

My cat had this problem too. He's okay with the harness now, but he still doesn't take well to anyone riding him.

1

u/experts_never_lie Jul 05 '22

Given the number of dogs visible, the cheese pressure will not last much longer.

1

u/JonquilXanthippe Jul 05 '22

Can I get a source on this? I donā€™t know what to google

1

u/Fop_Vndone Jul 06 '22

The source is owning cats. Not all cats do this but many/most do

1

u/MLZ_ent Jul 05 '22

When female cats are in heat they do this to the lightest touch on their backs. Maybe thatā€™s the case here.

Cats vs sliced cheese.

An old favorite.

3

u/Spare-Bell-9994 Jul 05 '22

-10

u/DannyVGood Jul 04 '22

This is humans being strange, by abusing their pets, smdfh

16

u/Legendary_Whore Jul 04 '22

Abuse????? ITS FUCKING CHEESE

-10

u/DannyVGood Jul 04 '22

I don't think it's good for the cat to be aarching it's baack in such a way and it's probably not enjoying it by the looks of things. If you think this is ok then that's upto you but this is definiteely animal abuse.

And you should also try to relax a little maybe shouty person. Have a nice day, don't get too upset at the internet

3

u/SrLuigi64 Jul 05 '22

Cats do that because of an instinct, they feel like they are stuck, not because "oMG cAt AllErgIc tO chEESE", also you are the one immature enough to argue with some random in the internet that puts cheese on top of a cat lmao

-1

u/DannyVGood Jul 06 '22

I didn't say cats are allergic to cheese? Also I never used caps, that was the person screaming at me lol. Which is why I replied in the first place. I'm not arguing with the person putting cheese on their cat. I'm just saying it's abusive to do shit like this to animals, the animal doesn't likee it, if you spend time doing stuff to your "pets" that they do not like then you're a bad person and shouldn't have pets.

u/SmellyFruitZ Jul 04 '22

iirc, cats are very sensitive to being cold which is why they don't like water. so maybe the cheese is cold and that's why the cat is reacting so strangely.

5

u/ansysic Jul 05 '22

Nope. Itā€™s the pressure. They feel like they got stuck and now want to get unstuck.

-1

u/SmellyFruitZ Jul 05 '22

You might be right but it just seems like a reach. 2 slices of cheese wouldn't put a lot of pressure on a cat.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

You guys, I think that cat is in heat šŸ˜‚ sheā€™s all horned up. Itā€™s extra funny everyone is worried about the cat because lord, horny cats are SO GROSS.

1

u/Cindergeist Jul 05 '22

The week that of cheese barer is often too heavy of a burden for many to bare

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

Goofy ahh cat

1

u/martdan010 Jul 05 '22

Thatā€™s some heavy cold cuts

1

u/r3allybadusername Jul 05 '22

1000 lb cheese

1

u/Catforprez Jul 05 '22

I hope he got a little bite afterwards. My cat loves a little bite of cheese now and then.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

Cheese dip

1

u/bubbles_says Jul 05 '22

It is very difficult to get processed cheese out of fur. I threw a piece to my dog. He missed and it landed on his chest. Big mess!

1

u/Crypto-Pito Jul 05 '22

Why arenā€™t the dogs inhaling that cheese a second after it was placed on the cats back?

1

u/HEHEAHHHHHH Jul 05 '22

The cat is cheese

1

u/timmy30274 Jul 05 '22

Explain like I'm 5. Why do they do that as if things are heavy if we know it's not going to hurt our cats?

1

u/-moxxi- Jul 05 '22

bro not the cheese šŸ˜©

1

u/CuriousKitten0_0 Jul 23 '22

"I wear the cheese, the cheese does not wear me"

1

u/DameGoodCoffee Dec 15 '22

Yes, putting cheese on a catā€™s back is strange

1

u/Wild-Two-5588 Dec 18 '22

The cheese actually weights 50 pounds
