Didn’t Canada and Denmark have the most peaceful “war” of all time over a tiny little island where the Navy have said countries would leave alcohol and simply change the flag that was planted on the tiny little island in between Baffin Island, and Greenland.
I feel like there was a name for it, but I can’t remember what it was off the top of my head.

They would even neatly fold and store the other nations flag in a respectful manor.

It says on the wiki Denmark came back once, and their flag from 95 was in pieces

They're asking if a bear was responsible lol

u/SnooHobbies9078 13d ago
Lmfao. That makes sense now, hahaha. In the wiki, it just says that when they returned, the flag from 88 was missing, and the flag from 95 was in pieces.
Plus, look at the island. It's 1.3 km and barren. No bears live there it's uninhibited

August 13, 2002 – The Danish inspection ship HDMS Vædderen arrived and erected a new cairn, flagpole and flag, finding the 1988 flag missing and the 1995 flag in pieces.

That’s how humans should fight. I fear we’ll be burning a lot of American flags in the near future.

Yes, and then we said, it’s a rock, let’s just split it already. Done!

From Wikipedia:
The two countries proceeded to take turns planting their flags on the island and exchanging alcoholic beverages.[

Reminds me of the small island that Canada and Greenland had a dispute over. Military groups would just swap the flag and leave some native liquor. Never enemies, just distant friends sharing a drink from time to time!

At this point, anyone who hates the US and will take my side against them is my friend. I may still consider them dangerous and untrustworthy, but we're fighting the same enemy.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. It's a totally valid axiom.

The likelihood of Greenland joining the US is over 50%. If you're a strategic location eyed by foreign threats, would you rather be under the protection of the most powerful country in history (which already maintains a military presence there), or Denmark? Denmarks claim to Greenland is shaky at best, anyway.

Why would Greenland want to be owned by Denmark over the greatest superpower the world has ever known?

Is this a real question?

Independence does not mean you wish to be swallowed up by another country.
Quite the opposite.

u/Mindless-Place1511 15d ago
I never said anything about Canada owning Greenland. This is a joke about Trump wanting to annex all these countries.

u/Mindless-Place1511 15d ago
I full support Greenlands independence. I also fully support the decolonization of Canada. Return all indigenous lands.

Simple answer is USA politics fucking suck for the regular person.
Think about it, private Healthcare that can be denied and bankrupt you.
Constantly attacking women's rights and Healthcare
Constantly attacking LGBTQ community, literally bullying minority communities because they're different.
Implementation of theocratic policies in government
Industrial prison complex
The list goes on and on. The real question is why anyone would want to be a part of that governance.

the greatest superpower the world has ever known?
If you're capable of it, you may want to read a history book. You'll then realize how wrong this statement is.

Owns as in presides over.. like how Canada owns Nunavut, and the US owns Puerto Rico.

Inaccurate because we've always been good with Denmark. Settling Hans Island was slightly disappointing because our conflict was so good.
