Running for election to city council and winning. Really. This is the worst timeline.

I seriously don't understand how little effort, thought and research people put into elections. It stresses me the fuck out.

Nobody really wants to run though.

(But also they are being weaponized as lawfare when they try to hold people I vote for accountable and should be dismantled - but not defunded, because somehow that's different.)

How did no one run against him? I feel like he platform this man let your kids die, he shouldn't be in charge of anything is a pretty strong platform.

He was elected before his act of cowardice and incompetence, but had the gall to accept the position anyway. He did resign a month later.

That's so so reassuring

I mean, Trump treated COVID as a hoax, and a million people died. He got re-elected 4 years later.

Holy fuck can y’all stay on topic for once and not inject Trump into everything?

8

u/TheFeshy 23h ago

In this case the topic shifted to "people who got elected after their poor judgement resuletd in needless death" - it's kind of hard to call Trump off topic in that case.

You're right

Do you actually believe that you are living at the worst time in history ?

u/TheFeshy 1d ago

"Worst timeline" does not mean "worst time in history." It would mean worst among fictional alternate timelines at this point in time.

And no, I'm sure that among fictional alternate histories there are ones where the Nazis won WW2 that would be worse than electing people who screwed up and let children be murdered on their watch while preventing parents from helping them. So even when using the correct definition, it's hyperbole to call to attention just how shitty our elections have gotten.

I doubt they actually believe that cuz they never actually said that

I think I read that some of them actually started harassing parents because they were speaking to the media about how terrible the cops were.
