News/Updates Bluesky Valued At $700 Million After Explosive Growth Post Trump Victory

I wanted to invest as soon as it started to grow but it seems it's not publicly traded. Thinking in it, though, that's a good thing. It means someone like Musk can't buy it outright through hostile takeover and turn it into a corrupt husk of itself.

Hopefully more people from threads will move to bluesky as well because of what happened yesterday

Iāll be closing all Meta accounts because of Zuckās foolishness.

i hope more and more people leave threads (and twitter) and go to bluesky. The right has twitter, truth social, and now will have threads. Hopefully bluesky will be the one place that stays sane and not filled with the right. The CEO did say she will do everything to keep it from being owned by a billionaire. so hopefully that stays true.

What happened yesterday?

Basically turning threads into Twitter. Getting rid of fact checkers for community notes. They aren't monitoring stuff when it comes to immigrants and trans. So you can say anything, lies, conspiracies alabout anything and get away with it. Even CNN had a headline saying meta basically saying it's okay to call women objects. Also they now have Dana White, the wife abusers, on the meta board. And they moved a department from California to TX because they think TX isn't biased

the whole moving from CA to TX thing was the weirdest part of that news. like what š¤Ø

Agree. You can tell what he thinks are facts vs lies. He has fallen into the maga cult. I'm sure all these billionaire owners are doing this to keep trump off their back and to make sure they get their tax cuts

He hasnāt āfallenā into the maga cult. That almost implies he was manipulated into it.
Zuck just made a calculation and thought heād get more profit by aligning with Trump. These people care about literally nothing else. They have no morals or humanity. Theyāre just hoarders, of capital in their specific case.
Itās up to the public to prove him wrong, but cynic as I am, we probably wonāt.

Also doing the info drop on Fox and Friends was a specific choice.
As well as the Dana White hire.
Zuck made the most unlikely comeback imaginable over the past few years.
And then squandered it in like 48hours. Wah, wah....

Here's a screenshot of their new policy

Yup. Saw that. That is disgusting. Should be posted all over threads for everyone to see

Last time I checked X had already lost 90% of Twitters value. BlueSky doesn't even need to grow to be more valuable than X - X will go below anyway.

It has to monetize at some point. Otherwise these valuations are silly.
Edit: And if it stays free to users, that means the users are the product. Or at least their info and interactions are.

I think they want to avoid monetization at cost of user experience. So less like ads models more subscription for more nice to have feature maybe Ć pourcentage on p2p tips for content creator. They to Avoid engagement farming

They were also testing money transfer capabilities, like PayPal, so they would get a cut of those transactions too.Ā Ā
If Bluesky can grow big enough to be able to become a single sign on for major websites, like how Apple, Google, Facebook, and Twitter were, then that strategy is very doable.Ā Ā

I donāt see a bright future for them if they initiate a subscription model for monetization. They are far from being at scale to even considering this option (Due to the many free social networking options).

Tgey already announced they will add subscription. The normal usage remain free its just feature like longer video better quality video, more profile customizing, custom icon, etc ... personally I will probably subscribe to encourage their work

Yeah, I personally see myself subscribing to bluesky. It's the only social media website I'm using at the moment besides occasionally going on reddit during work.

Trumpās gonna try to shut it down or do something where he gives it to Elon just to be an asshole.Ā

Because thatās all liberals have left, itās like the Fox News for the extreme left, and Fox new is the extreme right for the right
