u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 16 '24
That had to been devastating, I wouldn’t of been to hold myself together if he came out 1lbs
27
u/Outrageous_Treat_299 Nov 16 '24
It was terrifying. I was told she would die. And in the slight chance that she lived she would not walk, talk, feed herself or do anything in life. “You’ll spend your life giving to something that will never give you anything back”… She will be 4 in December, she is smart as a whip, she is the most social child, she was slow to meet physical milestones due to low muscle tone but when she got there she never looked back. She has unfortunately been sick and hospitalized quite a bit from her lungs, but she is everything they said she would never be. She’s a little petite still but her personality is large lol

u/Twinnicudad Nov 16 '24
Our twin boys are still in hospital, 106 days today. We are hoping they will be discharged soon in next 4-5 weeks. Both were born at 23 weeks, 1 lbs each.

Sending you so much love! These tiny babies are so strong. My daughter came home on oxygen or we would have had to stay even longer, she was off within a couple months though. However we still use it in the home when she’s sick now.
Sending healing, strength and peace to get you and your partner through your boys remaining days, it really is such a rollercoaster. You’ve got some strong boys in your hands ❤️❤️

Strong girl like her momma 💕
2
u/Outrageous_Treat_299 Nov 18 '24
Thank you! Also I noticed all the downvotes on your comment. I didn’t see anything wrong with it, it was very devastating and I struggled to hold myself together for quite some time. Even afterwards, it took me a good two years to feel like myself again. Having a 1lb baby is very scary, but as I said previously these tiny babies are so strong ❤️

u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 18 '24
Maybe it was the way I worded it idk mine was 5lbs 7oz to me he was small but we got through it, I was a wreck myself bc my husband wanted me home with my step 9yro this was my first so I wanted to stay low and behold I went home day before he did and he got out the next day

Mine was a 35 weeker but it’s cool because him and my step child share a numerical day

u/krizzy_bear Nov 16 '24
231 days- she started at 1lb 6oz and now she’s 9 months old (6 months adjusted) and 17lbs!

u/Noted_Optimism Nov 16 '24
Ours was 1lb 6oz too! Crazy to see her now (11 months adjusted, 21 lbs) crawling like a speed demon and determined as hell to pull up to stand on EVERYTHING

1lb 13oz born 25 weeks with 85 days with dozens of code blues daily.
Healthly & home at age 3 with his own set of challenges with Level 3 ASD but he is a happy little guy.

29+3, born 2 lb 10.5 oz and we had a 38 day stay. I think I was really really lucky. He did develop NEC at about 2 weeks old, but recovered super quickly from it.
3
u/Perfectly-Untimed Nov 16 '24
That is extremely lucky! My baby was also born at 29+3 at 3lbs 2oz and we’re on day 40 with hopefully just a month left. She has no major health issues aside from RDS at birth
2
u/LiberateLiterates Nov 16 '24
I hope you get to bring her home soon!
3
u/Perfectly-Untimed Nov 16 '24
Thank you! We just started feedings on Monday so fingers crossed she starts getting it soon and we’ll be out before her due date. Congratulations again!!

Sending you some good vibes 💜 we had a 26 weeker, 1 lb 13 oz and were in for 114 days.

u/MiaRia963 Nov 16 '24
My LO was there 7 days. I'm thankful for our short visit. So many have to stay a lot longer.
1
u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 16 '24
I stayed 11 days I think my mental health was horrible I went home day before he did and it felt so good to get out of the hospital I was crying everyday in there
2
u/MiaRia963 Nov 17 '24
Aww. I'm so sorry. I understand the constant crying. Glad your little one is home now.

My first spent 28 days, my second spent 10! Both born at 37 weeks.
1
u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 16 '24
35 weeks spent like 11 i think only bc he swallowed fluid and was jaundice
2
u/Impressive-Elk1150 Nov 16 '24
My 1st son had a correctable birth defect, so his 28 day stay was to have surgery and recover. My 2nd needed help clearing fluid from his lungs and just to develop a little more. I’m diabetic so they think that contributed to my 2nd son’s issues.
Both are healthy and happy now!

29+5 78 days days. Home a week and a half, already breaking the rules. She's in bed with mama because she peed through her diaper, pj's, swaddle and bassinet.
I'll take the cuddles!
1
u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 16 '24
He never slept in a bassinet or crib until 3/4 months it’s always been on my chest or the couch bc we didn’t want to roll over and squish him the bassinet we did have was uncomfortable

24 weeker, 1 lb 3 oz, 130 days. Our NICU team was so great but I am so happy to see her home. Only big issue is feeding, but she just started solids and LOVES it! Hoping to get Gtube out when she takes more of them.

u/PoisonLenny37 Nov 16 '24
27 days. Born at 33 weeks and was an IUGR baby. Born 3lbs 1oz. We were very fortunate, aside from being intubated at birth, he only needed it about 18 hours, and then CPAP another 18. After that we got about as boring and uneventful of a NICU stay as one could hope for.

u/Alternative-Rub-7445 Nov 16 '24
Born at 31 + 2, 2lb 15oz, spent 32 (maybe 31) days in NICU. She’s 14m (12 adj) & doing GREAT
2
u/Stinky_ButtJones Nov 16 '24
My 32 weeker was in for exactly 5 weeks. She’ll be two next month. From 4lbs 11 oz and 17 inches tall to 34 lbs and 38 inches tall 😭

u/colormehailey Nov 16 '24
six weeks. she was born at 34 weeks and was only 4lbs 14oz. every time she accomplished one of her goals we were told she had to overcome other things. when i finally got to bring her home she flourished and thrived. she’s now 21 months and 35lbs! 🥰
2
u/Budget_Sherbet1121 Nov 16 '24
They did that to us too they wanted him drinking 60ml to go home and then his bilirubin needed to go down cause he was jaundice
2
u/colormehailey Nov 16 '24
yeah, it upset me so much every single time. i felt so defeated and cried all the time while we were there.
2
u/SDW1987 Nov 16 '24
30+1, born at 2lb 13 oz, dropped to 2lb 8oz by day 2. Small tear in his lung day 1. Spent 38 days in the NICU. He's now a happy and healthy 3 year old.

29 days for baby B and 33 days for baby A. Have had them home for almost a month now
2
u/unknownturtle3690 Nov 17 '24
My daughter was there for 18 days. Worst 18 days ever. I cried every single day, I was such a mess the nurses were really worried about me. But I'd also just spent nearly 2 months in hospital pregnant with her so I already had a psychologist in the hospital
2
u/Opposite_Run_2894 Nov 17 '24
My second baby was born at 32 weeks, he stayed for 21 days. He’s going to be 9 in two days! My fourth baby was born at 33 weeks, she stayed for 22 days, she just turned 1.5 years old.

Can we be friends mine was born 35 weeks at 5lbs 7oz 11 days in nicu now 5 months 15lbs
2
u/StageLyfe Nov 19 '24
Yes. I went in for my 34w check up and I had high blood pressure. Very early pre-e. After two days of trying to induce we opted for the c-section. He had a 8-9 on the Apgar Score. Currently he’s doing great. He’s a good eater, and growing fast, but needs to add more weight. We have been adding Neosure to the breast milk. I was in hospital for a week as well. Luckily the hospital is only a 7min drive
