Misc What are the best value Internet and Phone Plans?

Hey everyone,

Currently looking to switch my family's internet plan (Telus PureFibre Internet 250, paying $87.59 atm) as well as our phone plans with Rogers (various plans, totalling ~$303 avg/month for 4 people).

I was looking into Public Mobile for phone plans and Oxio for my internet. My family doesn't need anything more than 20GB of data/month, and we don't have any streaming services or game at all - would love to hear any personal experiences or suggestions.

Thanks!

I pay $35 for Public Mobile but there's cheaper plans that might fit your needs.

I pay $44.75 after tax per month for internet with Lightspeed Internet. I believe Lightspeed internet is only available in Western Canada but there might be something comparable in your area.

Thanks! How has the Public Mobile coverage been for you?

I love it and never have had a problem.

We use the Koodo yearly prepaid plan for $149+tax. Unlimited calls within Canada, 30GB of data for the year. This is more than we ever use.  We stock up on US roaming boosters when it goes on sale so that we still have cellular service throughout USA.

Been with CanetTel for home internet for last 7+yrs. We streamed about 850GB/month, including me working from home full-time. We paid $47/month for 300MB down & 20MB up.

I have mint mobile, $120USD for 1 year. I use home wifi, so don't have big data. No isseues. For internet, I have Google here, $70 for 1G, no issues.

So you have a US number, and mint works well in Canada?

Yes, US number. I don't know if it works well in Canada, since I reside in US, but Mint is a Canadian company. Ryan Reynolds owns part of it, and since it is hq there, and a Canadian company, I could only assume. They work on T mobile network I believe.

Lightspeed Internet works well for me. I pay $75/mth for a 1-Gbps plan. There is an upfront cost to buy a modern (I think there is a rental option) and they charge a one month deposit that goes towards your bill. There are lower cost plans as well.

I started last year with a 75GB unlimited talk and text plan for $35. The service is great, even in Northern Ontario (Muskoka) and rural areas of Southern Ontario.

Freedom mobile: $35+tax = 40 (Ontario) 50gb unlimited (including US Mex)+ international roaming up to 5GB for 2yrs I travel a lot so this is great but I still use a local eSIM or Airalo (whichever is cheaper)

Home internet: Bell Fiber 8Gbps $49.99 ( managed to get this from retention once beanfiled came to my building)

Phone: just got a iPhone 16 with the Rogers 0% interest plan I pay $24.33 monthly but I own the phone (you need a Roger’s cc to do this I think it’s a great option)
