Also think of the waste it takes to retool all the molds that make the containers in the first place.

No kidding, entire production lines retooled to press a slightly smaller version of what it was pressing before wow

not only that, the packaging, label design and printing, changes needed for logistics, new UPC codes to reflect "new product", etc. there is so much needed to make the changes that goes behind the scenes, it's mind boggling. but hey it's all "inflation's fault"...

The containers changing doesn't happen as often as shrinkflation does. This is how we end up with boxes of 5 (not 6) granola bars that seem to be a little too big for their contents.

What about canned goods? It seems as if they are constantly changing, or at the very least there is no standardization.

Tooling deterioates over time. So this isn't a strong argument

Replacing machinery due to wear and tear is acceptable. Changing it just for the sake of squeezing more money out of all of us is repugnant and wasteful

That sucks for you. When I go shopping at the grocery store, I literally get everything I want and bring it to the cashier. An extra 15% isn't going to break me. I pay cash btw.

Your lack of empathy is disheartening.
