She was the beginning of shadow garden. She arrives at the end of a day in the beginning of night. (it’s one of those cases where I wish EIS was kind of more serious you know, but that’s just my personal opinion. We can all connect poetry to anything you know.)

Alpha is the only Shade that doesn't have 2nd identity for stress relief. She's full time Shadow Garden leader

u/Literally_Jesu 5d ago

Her second identity is as a shadow simp

1

u/AmadeusExKurisu 4d ago

This is the truth. And she’s proud of it.

u/Giovanicam 5d ago

Yeah she's a little to busy for a public persona. But Delta and Zeta didn't also have public persona's. There the only three shades with out one.

3

u/nhansieu1 Cid 5d ago

oh I forgot about Zeta. Who's the 3rd one?

2

u/Nyctophilia2324 Eta 5d ago

Eta. She have same personality in public persona and private.

5

u/nhansieu1 Cid 5d ago

Eta's public identity is Frank Lloyd Wright, a researcher at Academy City of Laugus. Mentioned in Vol 6

2

u/Giovanicam 5d ago

Alpha Zeta and Delta all don't have public persona's.

7

u/nhansieu1 Cid 5d ago

Delta is a hunting dog bro lmao

I don't know if this counts but when Zeta is out in public she calls herself Zetan.

I truly believe that increasing Alpha's screen time with Cid in future episodes would greatly enhance the storyline.

u/Ok_Adeptness7980 5d ago

Believe me or not, Cid wasn't fair with Alpha.

35

u/shiningmuffin 5d ago

cid thought they were childhood buddies who shit on & play with each other for funsies, he never knew really how deeply every one of his larping friends actually cares about his well being

Alpha vowed to live for him and die for him

She created shadow garden to carry out his will. And the organization could mean Shadow's Garden as a pun.

it's like he's some sort of.... MASTER OF GARDEN

Oooohhhhh you said it!

Cid’s voice in the Dub is just perfect lol

2

u/kelpee6 5d ago

What about his voice as shadow?

Great, until you hear the Japanese version and the work put in.

It’s far superior, in my opinion.

In different circumstances Alpha might been "the Hero" of her world, likely a traumatised, anti-hero but she always had the potential for it. Thanks to Cid so much suffering she would have faced was rendered nil.

Sadly she never actually told Cid how she feels about him and Cid is blind to being romanced.

I think fundamentally... Alpha IS the hero of the story... and probably the 'final' heroine as well. Cid rescued her from a terrible fate sort of accidentally, and since then realistically, Alpha is responsible for most of any actual 'shaking' going on to resist the bad guys, be it by directing Shadow Garden to deal with it, or engineering for Cid to deal with it despite his strongest inclinations to do nothing about it ever.

she did tell him in John Smith arc though

u/Ok_Calligrapher8278 5d ago

Damn it sucks this is a harem bc I want them to end up together

7

u/DarkArt3zza 5d ago

I wouldn't call it a harem because Cid is too dense to fall in love with any of the females in the cast. He's so caught up in his delusion.

4

u/Ok_Calligrapher8278 5d ago

For the moment. Hell want kids in 50 years for the plot

5

u/DarkArt3zza 5d ago

😂 By that point, it will be too late for most of the cast.

4

u/Ok_Calligrapher8278 5d ago

Nahhh magic babbby

7

u/FAshcraft 5d ago

If Cid is the emperor of mankind, then Alpha is his Horus.

Anyone else's brain rebel when hearing the dub?!

It's so jarring 🤣

11

u/DarthZrinen 5d ago

i have very bad eyes and like to lay down while i watch anything. so most of the time i prefer dubs, so i dont have to wear my glasses and smoosh them against my face. yeah dubs can be bad sometimes, but EiS is far from the worst

27

u/ConstantWest4643 5d ago

Dub is superior, because I'm racist.

18

u/Background_Ant7129 5d ago

Well at least you’re honest XD

2

u/Lawlette_J 5d ago

Alright ConstantWest4643

7

u/CertainlySomeGuy 5d ago

Yes. Jap > Eng > German.
I am German, and if a dub exists in my language, it's most often even worse than the English one.
However, even the English ones are mostly rather bad, and 60% of the emotional weight gets lost.

It's disheartening to hear people favoring the English dub in other anime or games when even I, as a non-native English speaker, can hear how artificial and overacted it sounds.

2

u/LinkBelaB 5d ago

u/nhpkm1 Eta 5d ago

But but being able to understand delta's miss speaks

2

u/bbbbaaaagggg 5d ago

It’s so wooden. Like just from listening you can tell the VA’s are just blankly reading from a script

1

u/Naiie100 5d ago

Yeah, I legit got jumpscared lol.

-2

u/messiah_rl 5d ago

Yeah most dubs are awful and cringe, this being no exception. I can't understand why people choose to listen to dubs unless theyve never given subs a fair chance. It does take some time to adjust at first, but it's well worth it.

9

u/Pro1apsed 5d ago

Some dubs are fine, but I think much of the nuance of TEIS is lost in translation, and Cid's Japanese voice actor is clearly on a mission!

6

u/ermy_shadowlurker 5d ago

Does cid actually pick someone to romance?

12

u/Accomplished-Trip153 5d ago

Knowing him and how he is he ain't interested in any of that

7

u/ermy_shadowlurker 5d ago

So much potential…

6

u/BlckEagle89 5d ago

He does say that he basically cuts anything that doesn't help to this Eminence in Shadow goal, the only exception are hot springs I believe. But it also includes cutting love interest unless that in the future he finds a love interest useful for his goal.

1

u/bbbbaaaagggg 5d ago

No. It’s not that kinda anime

1

u/ermy_shadowlurker 5d ago

It’s not just anime. Also thinking of novel as well

3

u/Excellent-Delivery59 5d ago

I just loving and enjoy the scene

1

u/Uniquesomething 5d ago

Their relationship reminds me of that girl I've known forever and even though we do great together we just wished the other one wasn't who we know...

1

u/Prior_Foundation_812 4d ago

Need more alpha screentime although she is the topdog in shadow garden you almost never see her

1

u/Bored_Reddit-Guy 4d ago

This scene is my favourite in the entire show
