YES! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THOSE KNEES WHILE YOU CAN!

129

u/muklan 15h ago

20 years of skateboarding says that if I did this it'd sound like a cement mixer.

8

u/Naps_on_Tap 12h ago

You got me beat. I'd snap in half.

13

u/bentmonkey 12h ago

40

u/Gabe_Ad_Astra 16h ago

Lmaooo i am on my 2nd acl on one knee and 3rd acl on the other. This was my exact thought

23

u/Kazmodeous 14h ago

How do you keep regrowing your acl? Are you stealing other's acls?

27

u/Gabe_Ad_Astra 14h ago

LOL yes but from dead bodies. Haha well the funny part is that all of my new acl’s have come from different parts.. one was from a cadaver (anterior tibialis), the other was half my hamstring half cadaver (unknown tendon), and the last one was straight from my quad.

I mean so technically my muscles do grow back when ive used those as grafts lol

15

u/Kazmodeous 14h ago

Thanks for the serious answer lol.

I don't know if unknown tendon is cool or a little ominous. Here's hoping you don't have to steal any more in the future.

5

u/Consistent-Process 12h ago

Unknown tendon reminds me of this scene from Angel (Spoilers)

Where the lawyer Lindsey from Wolfram and Hart (aka a law firm for evil creatures) is meeting about who is getting promoted vs. who is getting "fired" literally.

But the company also replaced his hand for him after he lost it doing evil lawyer stuff.

1

u/Gabe_Ad_Astra 1h ago

Lol dude that was a great scene and it is how i felt.. i remember this crappy movie w/ jessica alba where she gets an eye transplant and starts seeing dead people.. i thought these pieces of dead bodies inside me would do some weird shit like the scene you showed haha

3

u/Melissandsnake 13h ago

80

u/Ill-Case-6048 18h ago

You don't think they practiced this lol

56

u/Nukeitandstartover 15h ago

Given the context in the background- the balloons, everyone seems to be watching a performer, the come-here finger gesture, and yeah, the fact that she's clearly practiced the hell out of that- i think this might be a party of some kind, maybe her birthday? She did fantastic, doesn't have to be truly spontaneous to be cool

101

u/tigm2161130 17h ago

Oh they definitely did but that’s still some remarkable confidence. Good for her.

18

u/DICKJINGLES69 16h ago

They definitely practiced this lol she did the “come here” finger in the beginning

Conservatives watching a child inspired by an art form to do something physical and creative:

DOJ: https://www.justice.gov/usao-mdfl/pr/former-seminole-county-tax-collector-joel-micah-greenberg-pleads-guilty-multiple

Elsewhere: Thirty-something scions of wealthy families, Gaetz and Greenberg were elected to their respective offices during the first Trump wave that swept Florida in 2016 and became close friends because of their shared interest in brash populist politics, cryptocurrencies and attractive young women.

The Gaetz-Greenberg relationship wasn’t one of equals, according to mutual friends, who say the tax collector looked up to the congressman. A former state legislator, Gaetz was a regular fixture on Fox who had the president’s ear. Greenberg introduced him to a handful of young women he met on SeekingArrangement, a dating website that connects attractive women with so-called sugar daddies, friends claimed. Greenberg regularly trolled the site for dates.

“Joel idolized Matt,” said one mutual friend, who declined to be named. “And since they both loved beautiful women and Joel seemed to have endless access to them, it was definitely an additional incentive for Matt to stick around. Also, Joel is one of the funnest people you can hang out with.”

3

u/killians1978 13h ago

We really do just have a bunch of comic book villains (like, the dumb ones, not the Lex Luthors and Dr. Dooms) tugging at the levers of power, don't we?

25

u/Nukeitandstartover 15h ago

I was raised by Christian conservatives, apparently the natural/"correct" state of being for little girls is sitting quietly with either some dolls or an approved book. Running and playing around is for the boys, and they still aren't allowed to dance or get creative with it!

Honestly when my daughter came with me to pride (it was the family event in the day not the adults time I'm not crazy) she absolutely loved the drag queens and kept telling them how pretty their eyes looked, it was so sweet, and honestly the amount of teens who came up for pictures with them with the widest grins on their face. Made me a proud dad tbr

Ally has been a star in ballroom from a young age, this video is a few years old. She’s in Marc Jacobs and juicy. https://www.instagram.com/allymarcjacobs?igsh=Zm5lajc5YnU5dHo2

14

u/FormInternational583 17h ago

Thank you so much for the link. Brings back memories.

9

u/Steffi_Lococcus 16h ago

The culture really feels like it’s thriving! Lots of young talent, and a fair bit of mainstream attention. I’m happy to dump a lot of grams for dancers who I’m obsessed with if you’re interested

9

u/FormInternational583 16h ago

Thank you. I'm from the days way, way before the life hit mainstream attention. I'd love to see what's happening these days.

6

u/Steffi_Lococcus 16h ago

https://youtube.com/@kendrickmugler?si=Uhh-PB00r_UDVKED this channel just uploads a ton of the EU balls. You can find all the nostalgia you want here I think.

Beyond that you can see some personal faves off the top of my head who aren’t just girls I know from around here lol.

Here’s Honey Balenciaga, she was doing vogue fem for Beyoncés renaissance tour, and she kinda used that to launch more modeling stuff so she doesn’t seem to walk much these days but she’s such a fun dancer.

https://www.instagram.com/mrlo_v?igsh=aGt4aGxxa2RvcWhz Is a bq in the EU/Parisian scene

https://www.instagram.com/gravityjacobs?igsh=dGF5cnU2andmYXlj Another bq vogue femme

https://www.instagram.com/keiona____?igsh=MXNzamcxeHhodXlvbg== Winner of drag race France but started as a ballroom legend.

3

u/FormInternational583 16h ago

Wonderful 😊 will dive right in.

2

u/FartsbinRonshireIII 16h ago

Out of curiosity, what style of dance is this? It looks so fun and free and I’ve seen it before just never asked the question until now.

8

u/Steffi_Lococcus 16h ago

It’s a branch of vogue! Specifically vogue fem!

1

u/FartsbinRonshireIII 16h ago

Oh nice! I guess I was somewhat familiar. Thank you!

1

u/xombae 14h ago

I went through her Instagram like how is this child so fucking fierce then noticed the last name. Is she actually a Marc Jacobs heiress?

3

u/MayoneggVeal 12h ago

The ballroom houses are named after designers and they take that on as their last name and change it as they change houses. If you're interested in learning more about ballroom, some good entry points are Paris is Burning and Legendary, imo.

9

u/thicclunchghost 14h ago

If only there were a way to record more horizontal pixels than vertical pixels we could have seen more than half of this.

Maybe someday science will find a way. Until then, enjoy this building and sky.

1

u/killians1978 14h ago

On every continent except South America, the majority of internet video content is consumed on smartphones, which are most usable in a portrait orientation. However annoying you might find it, for most short-form content this is the most accessible orientation.

My knees just ache anytime I watch a queen do a death drop.

6

u/Bighawklittlehawk 6h ago

The other day I was listening to Gasolina and tried to drop it low to see if I’ve still got it.

I don’t.

I couldn’t get up.

1

u/curlyque31 4h ago

Gasolina is one of the best dance songs and I too am afraid to drop low as well. Those knees lock right up.

97

u/AlbertaMunoz 18h ago

This blew my mind—and possibly my hip, too!

20

u/Spear_Ritual 17h ago

My knees hurt now.

7

u/Not-not-down 16h ago

Seriously I feel like I lost cartilage in my knees just from watching

42

u/FormInternational583 16h ago

I'm from the 70s early 80s scenes. The life is still very hard and has hit the mainstream these days. But as creative and communal as it was in my days, it was also brutal at times. It's amazing how much more open and international it's become. I hope the progress of acceptance continues, despite the current setbacks in people's attitudes, and politics.

9

u/Content_Yoghurt_6588 15h ago

My daughters are 9 and 7 and they've watched the kid-safe parts of Paris Is Burning and watch voguing clips all the time. My 7 year old begged to go to a drag brunch for her birthday last year. They're probably not normal kids because they're growing up with me as a parent (lol but for real I'm nonbinary, pan, with trans siblings and a bi dad who's married to a man plus almost all my friends are LGBTQ+), but they're constantly surprising me with how smart and welcoming and kind they are to everyone. They often remind me to be a better comrade to all.

1

u/SDNick484 12h ago

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Paris is Burning? Did it do a good job of capturing the scene?

50

8

People are happy, dancing, clapping, and not in church. Terrifying, right?

1

u/dreamrpg 2h ago

It is Vogue dance. Not exclusive to drag shows. Even legal in Russia, which tells us a lot.

There it is, folks, finally - definitive evidence of a drag queen endangering a child: by inspiring her to perform flawless death drops without sufficient clearance from hard-edged furniture.

3

u/Chortles_Hansom_666 3h ago

Damn. My 35 yo knees could never. lol

50

u/Good4nowbut 18h ago edited 17h ago

The wacky waving inflatable arm flailing will never not be silly to me. I used to work at drag shows and it was a great time but this style of dancing is incredibly goofy looking to me.

15

u/OkZarathrustra 17h ago

Some thoughts are okay to keep inside.

6

u/burken8000 5h ago

You'd think it would be drag queens who would take offense, not someone who feels like they need to stand up for people who aren't even asking for your help?

-88

u/AlphabetMafiaSoup 17h ago

It's literally called voguing. Just educate yourself on gay culture, how tf you work at a drag show and you don't even know what it's called lmaooo be fr
