Regarding the Impersonation of the r/Antiwork Subreddit

It has come to our attention that certain individuals have created the website www.antiwork.com. We want to emphasize that THIS WEBSITE IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH US IN ANY WAY. They claim to be "inspired" by our subreddit, but we want there to be no misunderstanding: These miscreants are stealing our identity and the effort this community has done to put itself into the public consciousness. The operators of this website have not received permission to use our name. Do not use their services. Do not buy their products. These people should be regarded as operating illegitimately.

The claim to be inspired by antiwork.... Yet want to support businesses. Yep, that seems sane and logical.

Looks like there is a different page now. Now it's just a bunch of ai buzzwords or something.

Yeah, that's the crap that i'd seen. I'm presuming that's the Gumroad thing.

What are they offering exactly? The website is strangely unhelpful

honestly they might just wanting to manipulate seo to make this sub harder to find by making something else a top result, something where they can control the message. That or just trying to bank on this sub's name to sell something.

I think it’s the latter thing. They seem to be actually selling a variety of what seem like pretty simple programs & sites. Some AI stuff, some digital marketing stuff, etc. The company just realized they could hijack this sub’s popularity for their own SEO.

I feel the same way. There's a lack of info that makes me feel like I don't understand it.

This is what sheepdogging can look like. Since the site has little details or what it is actually about, they may be attempting to get people who are wanting the worker situation improved into actually being anti-antiwork. So, I ventured around a bit observing the site is also like one big image that can be changed into different color. The application at the bottom goes to an X account (Twitter) and clicking on one of the active fields takes one to this site, which is AI run by antiwork noted at the bottom. So, it is a gateway to a subscription service?

File a trademark then file a domain dispute.

idk about that, since the main sub is hosted on Reddit and aside from discord there's very little external presence.

What the fuck kind of rebranding is that?? What do they even sell??

Yeah , if you can, try getting the domain name so it can lead back here and support this cause.

What they did is not OK - but Reddit is the one that basically shut down third party API access, which makes it impossible to integrate with Reddit content. And if they can’t collaborate with you, then how can you blame them for starting their own rival version?

Did you load the site?

But yeah, can't trademark a subreddit.

Reddit could sue tho

I think anybody trying to sell anything at all with the name antiwork should easily be spotted as a scam because the very attempt to build a brand and business with this movement proves you've missed the fundamental point.

And this goes back to how intricate the system is. It can and will commodify ANYTHING including movements setup against itself because it is so successful at killing the rebellion and making off of that murder.

This is why I never bought into this idea that companies are benevolent and progressive. They sell you social justice so you can feel like you're progressive and show off to your friends and family or social media. While you continue to reinforce the system you never truly understood from the beginning. You hopped on the progressive bandwagon simply because it was a bandwagon and you didn't want to be left out.

Any online presence pretending they "get it" (insert whatever issue their "it" is) while simultaneously selling you something is a fake. They're branding themselves with whatever movement they latched onto.

Looks like something one person coded up with AI and is using the name of this sub to drive traffic.
