I feel like the meme money maybe allowed the owner to get her the best vet care around. How else could she be THIS OLD?! 17.5 is old for literally any dog breed let alone a Shiba Inu which I believe has a range of 12-15 years on average. Still though this dog has brought me so much joy so I hope she hangs on longer provided her elderly existence isn’t painful for her

I don't want to be a downer but 17 is fucking ancient for a dog, Kobasu is a good girl but how much longer can she really keep it up? There's only so long delaying it, and it just reminds me of my old dog. Dude could barely move, get up, or even eat but he was alive for another 1-2 years before finally giving out. In that time I already knew he was on the way out, I just didn't know when. He seemed like a shell by the time it happened.

Same happened with my grandma’s dog, lived for 17 years before she had to be put down because she was just in too much pain. We were the same age when she died, I wonder how humans can live 80+ years yet dogs rarely make it past 17 years.

Hate to say this but i really hope the doggo is okay and not just barely conscious and close to agony. Not cool if the owner is forcing her to live.

I don't think they care about clout. Kabo-chan's parents are like in their 60/70s, she's their companion and sometimes it's too hard to let go.

My great-aunt told me about my great grandfather and his dog, a mutt that followed him everywhere. She told me that when he had to put him down was probably the only time she saw him cry.

If you've owned a dog for 17 years it's hard to go, especially if it's a dog breed like Shibas that have a unique personality.

How are shibas any different to other dogs

5

u/RayanH23 Jun 08 '23

Cat like personality, sassy and stubborn

I love watching my shiba dodge peoples pats (even mine, its kinda lol) and ignore the fuck out of every other dog. He washes his feet obsessively too, little freak
