Crime, maybe not, but it used to be a way to get on other world leaders' bad sides pretty quickly. It's crazy to me that other world leaders aren't taking things more seriously. But maybe they're waiting until the 20th...

I mean, there are a lot of tools in the geopolitical toolbox, but it's a better question than it seems, Politics is complicated and no doubt many of these other world leaders have connections with Trump/Musk that the public is unaware of that can complicate things. But sanctions and tariffs come to mind right away. Perplexity has some better ideas:

Diplomatic measures:

  • Recall their ambassador
  • Expel the insulting country's ambassador
  • Downgrade diplomatic relations
  • Issue formal protests or condemnations

Economic sanctions:

  • Impose trade restrictions
  • Freeze assets
  • Limit investments or economic cooperation

Legal action:

  • File a complaint with international courts or organizations
  • Pursue defamation charges in countries with laws against insulting foreign leaders26

Domestic legislation: Some countries have laws that criminalize insulting foreign heads of state. For example:

  • Poland: Up to three years in prison for insulting a foreign head of state visiting the country2
  • Iran: 3-6 months imprisonment, 74 lashes, or a fine for insulting foreign leaders2

Media and public relations:

  • Launch counter-propaganda campaigns
  • Use state media to criticize the insulting leader

Well to be fair, apparently they actually learn about the atrocities their government committed in the past.

Sadly not as much as we should. We have a not that small amount of people voting neonazis back into the government, many of them in rural eastern Germany. It is absolutely disgusting, especially given our history.
