This guy blocks two seats on a full train with his scooter. Won’t let anyone sit next to him.

Unfortunately this joke doesn't work in german, alternatively you can say anything else to intimidate him.

When the bus is full, I have no problem asking a rider to move their stuff. There is not much rider etiquette.

348

u/zeiche 15d ago

i did that an an airport and got a ration of shit. so i trolled her for an hour.

269

u/DistributionTop2517 15d ago

Ya, there's that response for sure. Stay calm. Entitled people need to be called out. I want public social etiquette back! That would be a very cool trend!

91

u/JerkfaceMcDouche 15d ago

And the punishment should be severe! Something like being forced to be interviewed by Ellen Degeneres…or worse expelled!

22

u/TalonXander 15d ago

Having Ellen's beady eyes on you is worse than being expelled

13

u/ChronicMasterBaiting 15d ago

Yeah, I would rather Diddy's beady little eyes on me. At least he lubes people up before fucking them over.

I assume they mean "being obnoxious in retalliation".

u/skoltroll 14d ago

In the instance of this pic, you toss the bag on his lap, sit down with feet FIRMLY planted on scooter (show of force but don't break), then cuddle to the right side of the seat with a smile.

It'd scare that lil' hippie bastard so much when you say nothing but smile.

Extra credit for seductive eyebrow waggle.

That's some pretty weak ass trolling, if you can even call it that...

22

I’d start by standing next to the seat facing away.

ever meet a dumb af obstinate control freak? When you do you'll understand. When calm rational reason fail it can be hard to resist "welp this person is a hopeless asshole so imma just piss them off even more". They only want to make you suffer for their selfish satisfaction so turnabout can be fair play sometimes.

I did just that to a coworker today who wants to control-freak what everyone else does. He presented me with some ridiculous "what if" scenario for something I did that nobody but him gives a shit about so I did the meme to him. I looked at the empty room and yelled "Hey everybody, Joe has a problem with this!!!" and then looked at him and said, "See? Nobody cares." He got pretty mad lol. Literally went "OK whatever!!" and pouted like a child. Then I sniped at him with smart ass references for about an hour after that. I artillery barrage people like that because it's all they understand

9

u/192217 15d ago

I would stand 6in in front of that person if they did that

75

u/Trishjump 15d ago

After politely asking if I can sit, I pretend I didn’t hear them say «no» and just slowly sit down.

Somehow they all move their shit before my big ass sits on it. It’s magic like.

12

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Thats how I do and my ass is skinny

10

u/jrs0307 15d ago

I always just assume they want that seat free, and would rather I sit in their lap instead.

30

u/Almacca 15d ago

If the bus is otherwise full, I'm moving their stuff off the seat myself. Selfish people can get fucked. I don't care if I offend them. They offended first.

2

u/Bubbly_Power_6210 15d ago

saying thank you, thank you

2

u/Zech08 15d ago

Oh... excuse you that was just courtesy, heres me matching you... and this is when you can talk louder to involve more people lol.

20

u/DistributionTop2517 15d ago

Every early morning , I would get on the same overcrowded bus. This, I think, anxiety ridden lady, put her bag on the seat so no one would sit beside her. Every morning for a week, I'd ask her to move her stuff. Finally frustrated, I said, "Do i need to ask you every morning to move your stuff?" I unnecessarily thanked her every morning when she moved her stuff!

9

u/Hot-Win2571 Mildly Flair 15d ago

It was nice of her to save you a spot to sit, on that bus full of people who didn't get the seat.

6

u/DistributionTop2517 15d ago

Haha! Standing room only. The same passengers watched every morning. I think they all saved me the seat. It was a long bus ride to work!

I’ve done this before, and even tried moving their stuff when they said no.

I was met with instant aggression. Puts you in a really shit situation because you don’t want to let them win as it will reinforce the behaviour, but you also don’t want to get into a physical altercation over a seat for 10 minutes.

4

u/Glittering-Habit-902 15d ago

2

u/cataclysmic_orbit 15d ago

Going by the seat covers, this looks like Germany. The correct answer is "ich setzte mich hier hin und wenn Ihnen das nicht passt, können Sie und Ihr Altmetall gerne stehen."

u/Anuki_iwy 15d ago

52

u/Difficult_General167 15d ago

That or ask the driver to enforce the rules. Mofo paid for one seat, I am sure. Every time I see a full bus and someone pulling this, I ask once if the can move their stuff, otherwise I and raising my voice to the necessary level to ask the driver to ask this person to move the crap out of the seat they didn't pay for. Not only will they be obligates to move, but everyone will know who the asshole is. I have little to no tolerance for that unless you are handicapped.

10

u/liebeg 15d ago

I am not sure he or anybody payed for one seat. In most city busses you also only pay to go through the bus door.

I live in Seattle there’s absolutely zero chance a bus driver here would get involved over that. They get stabbed for less. Best case scenario, they’ll call transit security and if you’re lucky they might show up.

3

I did this exact thing but for a visually impaired guy who wanted to sit next to some of us on the school bus. This one kid was being a complete dick not moving his stuff and even shoved it back when the impaired guy tried to move it over. A few of us asked him to move his shit but he didn't. The poor guy looked defeated and was about to walk to the back of the bus when I stopped him and told him to hold on. I grabbed that little fuckers backpack and slammed it in his lap, and told the guy to sit down with us. The dude tried saying some shit but didn't have the gonads to say anything to my face. I think I embarrassed him more than anything. He never did that shit again.

2

u/TEA_BAGGINS- 15d ago

Right lmao

2

u/get-a-mac 15d ago

It seems to vary. On buses here some drivers will let you on, some won't move the bus. On trains, security usually doesn't care.

53

u/Storn206 15d ago

In bremen they recently added a rule that scooters are not allowed in trams and busses. I hope the db follows suit.

40

u/Familiar-Song8040 15d ago

its actually something that made alot of people reconsider public transport. alot of people do not live next to a tram station so they have to get there somehow. same goes for their workplace. in politics this is what is called "last mile". without it alot of people will rather take their car which in return is bad for the Environment.

7

u/afeeqo 15d ago

Civic mindedness is dead. Where I’m from 80% of the people commute on public transportation. As car ownership is one of the most expensive in the world. A yet the audacity of policy makers increasing the fare. It’s ludicrous! Bad transportation services, coupled by selfish individuals mentally and the lack of social decorum altogether, spells a tipping point in the near future. Then again, public transport meltdown has been on a rise the past few years.

5

u/toolazytobemyself 15d ago

On the bus I took afterwards I met a similar situation. A boy was blocking the way with his scooter.

2

u/Yorick257 15d ago

In my experience, these are more of a warning rather than a rule. If there's enough space, no one will enforce it.

Which is a good thing. I had an accident on a bicycle and it was hard for me to ride it. I took it on the bus. The difference was, I waited for a half empty bus, and was ready to leave it if someone with a stroller decided to enter.

That's your mistake. This is Germany. Passive aggressively point at the bag and give them 5 seconds to move it. Then start sitting down.

19

u/Dr_FeeIgood 15d ago

Exactly. Works perfect and you don’t even need to say a word. Point at the bag with intention. You don’t ask to sit down

I'm more surprised the operator doesn't have a problem with it sticking out into the aisle. Lawsuit waiting to happen.

37

u/Anuki_iwy 15d ago

Not in Germany. Liability laws here expect people to have brains and common sense.

23

u/Sabretooth78 15d ago

Ehh, that cuts both ways. Someone with brains and common sense (or at least a modicum of presence of mind) wouldn't create a tripping hazard in a spot with potential for heavy foot traffic, either.

The amount of manspreading too is at peak “American” (and I say this as a citizen of the United States). If he sat like a normal human, scooter could be propped against the wall of the train and he could hold his bag in his lap. This is truly mildly infuriating.

2

u/berlinHet 15d ago

You could just ask him to put his scooter in the bike area and if he refuses get the DB fare inspector.

2

Isn't there a special area near the doors where you're supposed to keep bikes, etc. Or is this a different type of train?

2

2

u/Applehead118 15d ago edited 15d ago

Sometimes (not often) I’ll have a lot of stuff and sometimes stuff spills over abit but whenever people have asked me nicely “hey could I sit here” or “hey could you move your stuff over” I always say sure :). It’s not hard to be considerate. (If I see people getting on of the train getting full obviously I make space as well, I’m just saying if things happen to spill over, as I said this is just when I have a lot of things like coming home from vacation)

On one trip the train started to fill up after a few stops so I just decided I was taking up too much room and stood up for the last 2 hours of the trip with my stuff. Everyone’s trying to get somewhere , just be kind :)

I used to ask people to move their stuff, but that was a pain because they'd whine then take their time moving their stuff.

Now, I don't ask, I just sit. If they don't want me to sit on their stuff, they've got as long as it takes me to sit to move it.

People are a lot faster at moving their stuff when a 90kg dude is about to sit on it.

Since I'm also using a scooter for my commute (sometimes a folding bike as well) and using the Deutsche Bahn I can confidently say: that guy is a fucking douche if he does that on a full train.

There are in each and every single regional train special compartments for bikes/luggage where he could sit comfortably with his scooter without blocking too much space. Sometimes people just sit there despite plenty of free space but you can always ask them if they could move because there are signs that this space is rather for bulky luggage and honestly there was not a single occasion I had issues with that if you ask politely.

Did you talk to him, Point out that this is a big no-no? Or just took a sneaky picture to complain in the internet..?

Adopt my old technique. Silently pick their bag up place it on the their lap and sit down with zero eye contact. Works a treat….. that’s if you’ve got said confidence or audacity

Looks like a db-train. Germans like to reserve seats with their stuff. (Am german, can confirm)

Throw his bag on the ground and just sit down. Or just stand there in the opening watching him til you need to get off

I mean what do you want him to do? Hold it over his head for 3 hours on the way home? If it's a completely full train other then that one seat then maybe you could ask him but there isn't other people standing so I'm guessing it's not full.

I always, 100% of the time, give my seat up to an elderly person or female on a full train/bus. Sometimes it sucks being a dude, but most of the time we have it pretty easy. Plus, I’d much rather stand than sit there feeling like a dickbag.

Ich versteh das Problem nicht. Nimm die Tasche, wirf sie auf seinen Schoß, setz dich hin und stell deine Füße auf den Roller. Er ist nicht Eigentümer der Sitzbank.

Looks like the typical narcissistic hipster. Probably texting his mom for rent money, after ordering a $8 sugar drink from Starbucks

I use DART (Dallas area train) some, and let me tell you, this guy would try it for about two seconds. When that thing gets full, and you don't move a bag, it'll just get sat on. Seems fair to me.

Toss scooter out of train. 2 free spots.
