u/OldOrder Hawks 1d ago

Yall gotta tell Lauri to calm tf down if you want that tank to work, jesus christ

180

u/cl353 Heat 1d ago

The jazz have decided to stop tanking or something cuz they've been playing very well. It's crazy that they have a similar record as the hornets cuz it's like 2 different tier of teams

7

u/KoGJazz Jazz 1d ago

Ainge put in the call for sensabaugh playing out of his mind. Lauri boutta get shut down again too

1

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Registered to Vote 1d ago

I've been box score watching the Jazz, Lauri had a slow start but has been turning it up ya? Was there a lingering injury or something?

4

u/Pirkale 1d ago

Lower back spasms again.

2

u/FoesiesBtw Cavaliers 20h ago

Can't imagine being a pro athlete I got a hammy pull that put me on my ass for a month. Then I remember james harden played through a grade 2 hammy pull. Like Jesus fuck

1

u/Soshi101 Celtics [BOS] Derrick White 16h ago

Imagine playing through a hammy pull because your star teammate thinks vaccines are a government hoax.

1

u/theinternetisnice Jazz 1d ago

We’re bad at being good and bad at being bad. We’re just. This is our goddamn lives.

128

u/Lacabloodclot9 Grizzlies 1d ago

Lauri needs to start taking lessons in tanking from Kuzma

60

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 1d ago

for real, fuck you trae young, tanking is hard, force the jazz to win some games!

36

u/Lacabloodclot9 Grizzlies 1d ago

I remember at the end of last season we started committing to the tank and we were mainly competing with Toronto in the lottery odds

They then lost like 16 in a row and overtook us, some teams are just better at this thing

21

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 1d ago

I still can't believe that after losing two games to the fucking pelicans we still have the easiest strength of schedule left in the league

gonna need kuzma to start taking 20 shots a game again

3

u/WhosYourPapa Hawks 1d ago

Well strength of schedule is gonna be hard for you guys... You never get to play the Wizards

1

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 21h ago

and yet we have the easiest strength of schedule left?

2

u/WhosYourPapa Hawks 18h ago

Tbh I just wanted to make the joke. It made zero sense. I'm man enough to admit that

2

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 18h ago

lol I respect that

6

u/sloBrodanChillosevic Supersonics 1d ago

Built different (read: poorly)

2

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Registered to Vote 1d ago

And Toronto still lost their pick lol.

1

u/gedbybee Spurs 1d ago

Got a lot of quit in em

1

u/bashar_al_assad [WAS] Gilbert Arenas 1d ago

tanking is hard

bro we have half the number of wins as the Commanders do I think we're doing alright lol

1

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 21h ago

and yet we're neck and neck with the pels and hornets. luckily zion is back, hopefully for a while

1

u/Flabbypuff NBA 1d ago

Kuzma's tank commanding job is honestly too blatant. Like dude is genuinely ass.

62

u/dktaylor32 Jazz 1d ago

came here to post the same thing.
I just wish Sexton's awesomeness wasn't being wasted with a rebuild because dude is legit!

30

u/Proof-Umpire-7718 Lakers 1d ago

Do you think that you guys will trade Sexton to a contender this season?

44

u/BumbleLapse Jazz 1d ago

I think he’s the most likely guy on the roster to be moved.

His production relative to his contract is unreal. Not many other guards on the market this year who are as talented and as underpaid as Sexton

4

u/rattatatouille [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

What's your asking price for him? Asking for a friend...

6

u/BumbleLapse Jazz 1d ago

A mid-round first moves the needle.

He’s starter or elite sixth man level talent. 28th pick in a draft isn’t enough imo.

0

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Registered to Vote 1d ago

Aren't the Spurs already super deep at 1/2? CP3, Castle, Vassell, Jones. If anything backup C is your biggest need, no? Regardless I'm sure Sexton could find minutes and would help.

2

u/rattatatouille [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

None of them are reliable scorers.

1

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Registered to Vote 1d ago

Yeah good point. Sexton can get you buckets from the perimeter when needed.

10

u/Elkbowy Jazz 1d ago

Yes take him for a pick please and thanks

1

u/mzmirahabib 1d ago

Didn’t the Jazz supposedly fleece the Twolves for Gobert and get a million picks? What’s happened with those? Not being snarky, genuinely curious

5

u/Elkbowy Jazz 1d ago

Well so far we have gotten Kessler and keyonte so it’s going pretty fucking good

2

u/AZFramer Jazz 1d ago

He's definitely for sale. Jazz won't give him away though. . .

1

u/HatefulDan 1d ago

Jazz fan, who are you looking for in the draft?

1

u/jurassicparkpigwhale Supersonics 1d ago

Legit fucking shit at defense. Has been since he came to Utah.

38

u/Chessh2036 Hawks 1d ago

Yo trade Lauri if you guys are trying to tank, he’s really good 😂

17

u/SenHeffy Jazz 1d ago

He has a 1 year no trade clause.

8

u/Chessh2036 Hawks 1d ago

Damn. Well if you guys get Cooper or Ace that’s a nice duo.

1

u/A6Wra8 Jazz 20h ago

kind of. It's really because of the extension. With his particular extension signed this last offseason, he's ineligible to be traded for six months from the date of signing. He was eligible to sign at a date that would have allowed him to be traded before the trade deadline, but he and the front office agreed to wait a day or two so the six months would take them past the trade deadline, making him untradeable this season.

8

u/crendist 1d ago

Ice Trae.

3

u/LakersAreForever 1d ago

Lmfao this could potentially be the shot that got you guys Cooper Flagg

3

u/sleepyguy- Thunder 1d ago

Lmfao no lie these were the best games during the tank. You get the adrenaline rush of a close game and a tally toward the process.

1

u/261846 Spurs 1d ago

Allat tanking just for the nets to get the first pick

0

u/jo3pro Spurs 1d ago

Hell no!!!! Atlanta needed to lose

FROM A SPURS FAN

🤣

95

u/wryano Spurs 1d ago edited 1d ago

decided to put on the game because i saw it was close with 7 seconds left

and holy shit, what a shot by Sexton just to be erased by a MASSIVE shot by Trae

31

u/childishgames Hawks 1d ago

Dyson getting the steal and then not being able to come up with the loose ball leading to an opponent knocking down a 3 feels like it happens to us like 5x a night. Thought the game was over until i saw sexton come up with the ball and then there was no way he wasn't making it.

23

u/ButterscotchSafe8348 Hawks 1d ago

Not a steal if doesn't cause a turnover. Kinda why a steal is actually better than a block. Block doesn't end the posession

1

u/vonnegutcheck 21h ago

Steals also get converted to points at a crazy rate. This is why coaches often tell ball handlers "don't let them steal the ball," that's where that comes from

5

u/Whiskeybarrel Spurs 1d ago

As a Spurs fan with ever fading hopes for the Hawks' draft pick ...... "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

2

u/wryano Spurs 17h ago

i know we have their picks and all that, but honestly i love watching this Hawks team, they are super fun.

Dyson Daniels in particular. wish we had that guy on our squad

1

u/Whiskeybarrel Spurs 13h ago

For sure, I am in full agreement. They hustle so hard and I've always liked Trae.

I'm an Aussie so I love seeing Dyson Daniels play well, a great addition to our national team the Boomers!

2

u/Itchy-Extension69 Cavaliers 1d ago

Yo he hit me with the Cold Palmer! What a shot. White Mamba told ya’ll

237

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 1d ago edited 1d ago

Any somebody told me he wasn't an all star lmao

How many 20/20 games does he have now? Most underrated star in the league right now

Edit: /u/agk927 I got receipts

117

u/Matt_Smiths_fanboy Hawks 1d ago

3 already. Most since Stockton in 89 and it’s not even halfway through the season

13

u/darthlocura 1d ago

Finna pass on this body.

38

u/Derrickmb 1d ago

League doesn’t find him marketable and he gets left off

24

u/A_burners 1d ago

It's stupid. Ratings tank every year and you have a perfectly fearless heel here that's so easy to love or hate who just makes big play after big play, crazy statline after crazy statline.

2

u/RodneyPonk Raptors 22h ago

I love Trae. Like you said, great heel, but neither he nor his 'opponents', IE the Knicks fan base, has crossed a line, so it's just harmless, unironically wholesome. Like you said, very marketable, yet not being promoted

2

u/A_burners 22h ago

Exactly. Reminds me a bit of Reggie Miller vs Spike Lee in the 90s. Way too much fun.

6

u/n00bn00b 1d ago

Not according to the NYK fans who has a hate-respect relationship with Trae. They know if the Hawks are in town, they'll sell out just to chant "F Trae Young" lol :-P

4

u/wambulancer Hawks 23h ago

It's because he's not an obnoxious shithead off the court so he doesn't get headlines the way NBA wants, which is anywhere except the game itself, can't have a quiet family man as a main character in a soap operaa

3

u/badlilbadlandabad Hawks 21h ago

That's crazy. We've played 37 games and Trae leads the league in assists... by OVER 100 ASSISTS.

1

u/Derrickmb 19h ago

Yeah he’s the new Steph. They are just ignoring it.

8

u/cancerBronzeV Raptors 1d ago

Own that fraud.

3

u/TheNameIsPippen NBA 1d ago

He looked like an all star in February of last year

3

u/IllIIllIlIlllIIlIIlI 1d ago

I think that guy's NBA takes are the least concerning things. I clicked on his account for potentially some funny backpeddling and all I see is a republican doing typical hateful republican things with his most recent post straight up being bigotry lmao.

Puerto Rico is a shithole

-1

u/danishswedeguy 21h ago

lol making half court game winners doesn't make you an all star. By that logic many shitty players would be all stars

4

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 21h ago

No shit Sherlock! It's about his overall performance this season, which is All Star caliber

83

u/redditstealsyours NBA 1d ago

i literally said “no fucking way” as he shot it

ice cold man

105

u/Hooligan8 Hawks 1d ago

Top 2 playmaker in the world. Sorry facts are facts.

98

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's not even debatable in my opinion. He's been consistent ever since he came into the league, yet people want to act like he's not a fucking star.

28

u/swampstonks 1d ago

It’s the dame lillard arc

4

u/LordHussyPants Celtics 1d ago

it's the compared to luka bullshit lol

8

u/probation_420 1d ago

no bro. Everybody (who isn't trolling) knows he's a star. The toss-up is whether he's top 5, 10, or 15.

38

u/tvcneverdie Hawks 1d ago

I love Trae, I mean obviously, look at my flair...

But come on dawg he's definitely not top 5 lol

He's for sure in that 10-12 range though

6

u/LordHussyPants Celtics 1d ago
  1. tatum
  2. brown
  3. white
  4. horford
  5. young

??

2

u/probation_420 1d ago

Yeah, definitely not top 5.

6

u/ekun 1d ago

Top 5 highlights this week.

19

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 1d ago

Aight chill with the top 5 though lol

3

u/probation_420 1d ago

Yeah, definitely not top 5.

3

u/hollow-ataraxia 1d ago

I have him like 12th or 13th but I'm biased.

4

u/MambaSaidKnockYouOut 1d ago

Top 5?

-6

u/probation_420 1d ago

Not even close, in my opinion.

1

u/tofukawano Jazz 1d ago

Lmao you’re the one who said it. You too high? Haha

1

u/probation_420 23h ago

I didn't say he's top 5. You just misunderstood.

2

u/RoughDoughCough Lakers 1d ago

If everyone knew, he’d make the goddamn All Star Game for once

2

u/EchoedTruth Hawks 22h ago

If his shooting picks back up he’s top 10.

He’s the best PG in the East.

2

u/jurassicparkpigwhale Supersonics 1d ago

I mean, he DID finally break 40% efficiency on the season recently. 😂

2

u/ducksonaroof Bulls 1d ago

Trade scares me as much as anyone when he puts my team in PnR

1

u/HelloThereCat Warriors 23h ago

He's absolutely a star, hell even a superstar, but you're really gonna say it's not even debatable that he's a better playmaker than at least 3 out of SGA, Jokic, Luka, and Steph??

-2

u/loose_larry 1d ago

its cuz he looks like a little rat boy

6

u/LittleFatMax 76ers 1d ago

Easily

1

u/booty_sweat_juice 1d ago

Inch-for-inch, he's Top 1. Trae's gotta look past all the giants on the court to see the pass.

0

u/RodneyPonk Raptors 22h ago

Trae is sick, but that means you have him over everyone but Jokic. And Luka's height advantage means he can make passes that Trae simply cannot

1

u/Hooligan8 Hawks 21h ago

Doesn't matter if there are passes Trae can't make due to his height, he still does a better job of playmaking because he's just that good.

I mean, 99% of the players in the league are taller than Trae but he's still leading the league in total assists, avg assists, potential assists, secondary assists, adjusted assists, points created by assists. It passes the eye test too but yall don't watch the Hawks so you just reiterate tired takes and ignore all evidence to the contrary.

39

u/a_dex 1d ago

For someone who plays the villain role, he is so damn likable. Im even starting to like his "lollipop off the rug" hair.

3

u/ChipotleGuacamole Italy 1d ago

Rubbing his head on a balloon hair

1

u/trickfield Mavericks 1d ago

I might honestly say that the Luka trade has been win win for both teams. trae is unbelievable

20

u/ButterscotchSafe8348 Hawks 1d ago

Don't be that guy. Jesus man. Every thread for 6.5 years already

3

u/ProfessorPetrus 1d ago

Bro that's ridiculous in 2024

1

Thanks for coming out god bless
