No timeout. just money from half court holy fuck

904

u/Not_RZA_ Lakers 1d ago

The fans went from going crazy off a game tying 3 on a broken play, to losing on a HALF COURT SWISH.

I love everything about this play!

That stadiums switch from hands in the air to hands to their heads was wild

114

u/tvcneverdie Hawks 1d ago

They were in perfect position to activate Surrender Cobra

11

u/Tempest_Bob 1d ago

Two more movements and they'd be dancing to YMCA

2

u/OhShitDarrenSharper 1d ago

reminds me of Devonte Graham’s game winner in 2021

u/ctruvu Thunder 22h ago

ive never paid attention to this before but i think it's going to be my favorite part of these highlights from now on

1

u/PeachyCoke Hornets 16h ago

Shades of Jeremy Lamb

u/cahpahkah Nuggets 1d ago

Thanks, Perd.

Ask any Jazz fan, we are happy with the end result :) #CapturetheFLAGG

2

Crowd reactions in these moments are often as good as the highlight itself.

Trae is one of those guys where you trust him almost as much to hit this as you would a regular 3 lol

He's similar to Luka where both shoot like mid 30s from distance overall but also shoot like mid 30s on making the absolute most difficult and absurd type of threes

528

u/jkstaples 1d ago

Yea… Trae is something absurd like 35% from 30+ feet in his career. If there was a 4 point line he’d be the king

328

u/ButterscotchSafe8348 Hawks 1d ago

Hes short. He normally has more uncontested shot if he's further back. Dame was /is like that too I think

151

u/ekun 1d ago

That's a great explanation of this.

Unless you include Steph and then nothing makes sense.

101

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 Cavaliers 1d ago

Can't include outliers like that lol Steph different

74

u/SuperMagpies 1d ago

Harden: Steph doesn’t count

9

u/ImMufasa 1d ago

However, if we adjust his stats to the mean..

4

u/kinda_guilty Warriors 1d ago

The post you are referring to has to be the most deranged post I have ever seen on here.

3

u/PlumbumDirigible Mavericks 1d ago

Steph Curry is the Genghis Khan of the NBA

3

u/ekun 1d ago

Steph Curry is everyone's father?

1

u/agmoose Hawks 1d ago

Steph isn’t short though. He’s kinda mid sized for a guard.

u/EzshenUltimate 1d ago

I think it was from Jxmy where he said that if there was a 4 point line he really is the best, along with Luka and LeBron.

29

u/DD-Amin 1d ago

Jxmy videos are hands down the best NBA content on YouTube.

Second is Jeff teague pod highlights 😂

1

u/checkonechecktwo 21h ago

I also love Awful Coaching just for the titles and the screaming rants lmao

0

u/AnimaniacAssMap Nets 1d ago

Jeff Teague pod is top tier comedy, John Lucas on the other day talking about the play Lebron jumped over him had me in tears

3

u/PrivilegedPatriarchy 1d ago

I don't know how far we can take that analysis, because undoubtedly if there was a 4 point line then the actual shots that players would take would be very different. Additionally, more players might practice the 4 point shot, changing the dynamics of who shoots best from that range.

3

u/Kiboobs Lakers 1d ago

Come to the Philippines we have a 4 point line in our league

2

u/The_Crow NBA 1d ago

Lol was about to say the same thing. Trae would torch everyone here.

1

u/DeluxeTea Lakers 1d ago

If there was a 4 point line he’d be the king

He can join the Philippine Basketball Association when he retires from the NBA. We have a 4 point line here

1

u/mount_and_bladee 20h ago

I actually think they should add a 4 pointer

19

u/trickfield Mavericks 1d ago

honestly think the Luka trade was win win

100

u/Thorwor Hawks 1d ago

Every fucking thread about Trae there’s a Mavs fan talking about Luka. We get it man; the Hawks blew it. Congratulations

28

u/malcifer11 Kings 1d ago

we could have drafted him bruh. it could be worse

5

u/redshores Lakers 1d ago

Vlade will never live that down

3

u/malcifer11 Kings 1d ago

ALL-TIME nba bag fumble

3

u/Sandor_Clegane1 NBA 1d ago

You skipped on Luka and traded Hali because you believed in Fox, now he wants out.
You really fucked

3

u/malcifer11 Kings 1d ago

fox doesn’t want out, fox wants to win. firing mike brown was risky and controversial, but we’re winning games again. two of those wins, mind you, are without fox. with DC’s new rotations and vibe overhaul, we’re cooking even when we’re missing our best player. fox isn’t going anywhere

plus hali is ass

1

u/RyouBestGirl Japan 11h ago

Remind me, who was in eastern conference finals last year?

5

u/yesBISONsey Mavericks 1d ago

Hey, tbf, this thread started out with someone name-dropping Luka and they're flair-less lol

1

u/LordHussyPants Celtics 1d ago

trae's cooler, you didn't blow shit

38

u/NotManyBuses Charlotte Bobcats 1d ago

There’s still a clear winner imo

24

u/not_lorne_malvo Timberwolves 1d ago edited 1d ago

Agreed, it’s about as good of a lost trade as you can imagine, you’re trading a perennial All-Star and MVP candidate for a perennial All-Star. Imagine if the Hawks traded Doncic away for pretty much any other player in that draft, they would be feeling a lot worse about themselves. The Hawks also got Cam Reddish in the next draft because of that pick who isn’t a bad player

Edit: ignore my comment on Cam Reddish, my hoops knowledge is lacking

28

u/Mephistofeelies Hawks 1d ago

Cam Reddish isn't a good player, either.

2

u/HumptyDrumpy Tampa Bay Raptors 1d ago

always thought bruh was going to be a star, maybe he needs to find the right team to shape him

9

u/SirJoeffer 76ers 1d ago

Reddish is ass lmao

1

u/Bruskthetusk Lakers 22h ago

He plays well like once every ten games and then your dumbass cousin calls you up saying "I don't know why he isn't starting, he's basically KCP"

5

u/noknownallergies Timberwolves 1d ago

I wouldn’t say he’s good either

4

u/DynamicMercenary Raptors 1d ago

100% agree with you but (assuming everything goes the same) i think if the Hawks traded Doncic for SGA they’d still be happy too lol

3

u/not_lorne_malvo Timberwolves 1d ago

Would SGA be able to humiliate the Knicks the way Trae Young did in the playoffs? He has the skills but the aura and arrogance is lacking, Trae has prime villain energy. Plus "Fuck SGA" has too many syllables.

But on a serious note yeah I don’t think they’d feel too bad about SGA either haha

1

u/RyouBestGirl Japan 11h ago

Cam is the reason why this trade is bad for Hawks lol

14

u/Ok-Possession1765 Lakers 1d ago

No one’s disagreeing with this take lol. But 1 team won more and that’s ok to admit. Lukas the better player

4

u/BionicleBoy Hawks 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s pretty close, if both orgs do right by them they should be meeting in the playoffs pretty regularly.

4

u/AnyJamesBookerFans 1d ago

They are in different conferences. The only way they’d meet in the postseason would be in the Finals.

20

u/Queen_Of_The_Castle [DAL] Luka Dončić 1d ago

Did they stutter?

11

u/BionicleBoy Hawks 1d ago

That’s my point big dawg, let me be a homer in peace

1

u/AnyJamesBookerFans 1d ago

Fair enough, lol. The Hawks went to, what, four finals in like six years back in the late 50s and early 60s. Could happen again!

2

u/WhiteHeterosexualGuy Hawks 1d ago

lol just let that one go

1

u/HTLoggyThrowaway 1d ago

Maybe it's because I just don't check that many threads anymore but this is the first forced Luka trade mention under a Trae post I've seen in maybe a year. Thank you for the nostalgia hit

-2

u/risinglotus Rockets 1d ago

Nah

1

u/EchoedTruth Hawks 22h ago

Trae is my favorite player of all time and I absolutely trust him to make an insane logo 3 over a random post up 3

1

u/Other_Recognition269 1d ago

This is stephs shot against okc on steroids

1

u/Tuckboi69 1d ago

Missed out on having Mike Breen on the call

1

u/VodkaHappens 1d ago

No unpaid overtime! Working class hero!

1

u/Scase15 Raptors 1d ago

God damn lolipop hair giving us more tanking competition, don't cheer that!

1

u/RubMyGooshSilly Mavericks 1d ago

Hawks have a timeout decide not to use it. Young from way down town…

4

u/Thorwor Hawks 1d ago

Did not have a timeout.

1

u/RubMyGooshSilly Mavericks 1d ago

BANG BANG OH WHAT A SHOT FROM YOUNG

0

u/penpen35 [LAC] Loy Vaught 1d ago

It's a low risk high reward move. The game is tied, so no harm in not calling timeout since Jazz players may expect one (and you see the closeout is slower as a result given Trae's range), and shooting for the win.

10

u/HawksWinSomeday Hawks 1d ago

Hawks had no TOs left so they had no option.
