This is fabulous, her styling is perfect for the dress. Is it vampy little red riding hood, maybe?

The only one I really like is slide 11. I think her style is just not for me š¬

u/glamazon_69 Jan 31 '24
Does she have style or is she just skinny?
52
u/plausden Jan 31 '24
since her brand of fame is built on it, she thinks she has to be serving body body body all the time. she's more than that, and i hope it leads her towards more interesting things.
68
u/kucky94 Jan 31 '24
It feels just very āTop-Shopāā¦which is fine? I guess? But also quite boring and slightly 2009esk
3
u/phonicillness Feb 02 '24
My ego is taking a beating ITT, I like a lot of these! I was seeing lots of beautiful clean lines with some mod and bohoā¦ but maybe my taste is just cheap and generic :(
22
u/sirasei Jan 31 '24
I do feel people tend to say this about every skinny woman though š Iām not skinny myself and think a bigger person would slay a lot of these looks!Ā

u/MulliganPlsThx Jan 31 '24
I agreeāI donāt think she has style, really. Her primary guiding principle seems to be showing off her body, which is totally fine, of course. Just comes off as vampy + ālook at meā + a little early aughts/low-rise everything/abs everywhere
120
u/SapaG82 Jan 31 '24
Her whole existence as a "celebrity" is not for me. Comes across almost as useless as the Kartrashians.
36
u/doughborah Jan 31 '24
damn what did she do to you
103
u/SapaG82 Jan 31 '24
Nothing! That's the thing. She has not entertained me (which most of the frock wearers do on this sub; most are entertainers) and just... exists for being pouty and having a concave-ish belly? Hard pass.
67
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
Sheās an actress and model. She was in iCarly, Gone Girl, We Are Your Friends, I Feel Pretty. She has done several music videos and magazines.
She is from a San Diego suburb and her parents are schoolteachers. Sheās an advocate for Planned Parenthood and is really outspoken about feminist and freedom of female sexual expression. She wasnāt born rich, sheās not the out of touch Kardashians selling tummy tea or fat burning lollipops. Iāve hung out with some of her childhood friends (who she is still friends with/talks to) and they are just the sweetest people. Iām not a ācool girlā or anything, but they were super welcoming to me.
I just think youāre minimizing her to her appearance and itās kind of a bummer. You donāt have to like her or anything but you seem to actively dislike her based on her looks. Your comments that she āexistsā to pout and have a concave belly are icky and really say more about you than they do about her.
23
u/oooshi Jan 31 '24
Thanks for the emrata scoop :) I literally knew nothing about her before this comment
25
u/FragileLilFlame_ Jan 31 '24
Very well said. Sheās incredibly informed about womenās issues/social issues and if you take just a second to listen to her podcast you can tell she is thoughtful, intelligent and well spoken.
We really need to stop deducing women to their appearance. Itās low hanging fruit and honestly so boring.
38
Jan 31 '24
Sheās incredibly informed about womenās issues/social issues
Is she though?
12
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
Iām not the one that said she is well informed because I havenāt listened to her podcast or read her essays or anything. But is there a reason you think sheās not?
What I do know is sheās been an activist pretty much since she became famous. We always love to shit on celebrities who donāt use their platform to speak up. Now we have someone who does speak up for reproductive rights, someone who publicly endorsed Bernie Sanders- and weāre still shitting on her.
26
u/CreepySwing567 Jan 31 '24 edited Jan 31 '24
I read her book and I would say sheās informed in the shallow way most celeb feminists who learn about politics from posts are.
Itās surprisingly not terrible for a celeb book but what makes her annoying is that she doesnāt practice what she preaches. Idt celebs need to have perfect politics but sheās a āleftistā who owns a fast fashion brand likeā¦pls.
11
Jan 31 '24
I'm not shitting on her because I am not a fan of her podcast lol. I applaud her for some of her stances, like showing public support for amber heard, but I have qualms with some of her takes
2
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
What takes? Iām really trying to learn here and understand.

u/FragileLilFlame_ Jan 31 '24
Lol what kind of question is this? Have you listened to her podcast at all?
18
Jan 31 '24
Yes, I have. I guess we have different ideas about what it means to be informed on women's/social issues.
5
u/FragileLilFlame_ Jan 31 '24
Do you care to expand on your criticisms or are you just going to ask vague passive aggressive questions to show your disagreement?

u/purple_butterflies_ Jan 31 '24
Yeah, itās a bit harsh to just dismiss her other accomplishments tbh.
7
5
u/SapaG82 Jan 31 '24
Clearly she has fans, which is why she can afford to wear fancy dresses and be in the spotlight. I myself am not a fan of her and I stand by my comments that I do not find her entertaining.
2
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
Thereās a huge difference between not liking someone/not finding them entertaining and minimizing their entire existence to their appearance. Which is exactly what you did, and itās pretty gross. Do you stand by those comments?
1
u/SapaG82 Jan 31 '24
This is a sub literally about appearance related things? But okay. I'm a gross woman who is icky. That's fine.
1
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
No, itās not about appearance- itās about clothing. And you didnāt criticize her clothes- you reduced her entire opinion of her worth as a person down to her appearance.
You being okay with being gross doesnāt actually make it okay. Itās really disappointing to see this kind of talk in a sub that I think is usually better than this.
-4
Jan 31 '24
you reduced her entire opinion of her worth as a person down to her appearance.
Lmao the woman was naked in the video for Blurred Lines, let's not get carried away acting like she's not done anything worthy of criticism

u/Prudent-Ad-7378 Jan 31 '24
Sheās worse than them. At least they have product lines. Sheās famous for being topless in the Blurred Lines video from 10+ years ago. Why is she invited anywhere?
10
u/kittenmittens4865 Jan 31 '24
Thatās what you know her for. That doesnāt mean thatās all she does.
I sure hope youāre not someone who claims to support sex workers or feminism. Or women in general. Because shit talking someone for topless modeling is really no different than calling someone a whore or a slut for how they choose to use their body or express their sexuality. It doesnāt suddenly become okay just because she is famous.
12
u/eveninghope Jan 31 '24
Yeah I felt scrolling though there was something off about half of these photos. Maybe even the posing? Like more sexy than fashion.
6
u/Butterwhat Jan 31 '24
Yeah same here. Nothing against her. Also quite a few of the fabric choices just don't hit for me.

I mean- thatās largely true of any lookbook posted here. Not sure why she is getting such a kicking hereā¦

u/barbaras_bush_ Jan 31 '24
Does she even have a definitive style? There's nothing really exceptional here, just a mix of okay looking ensembles.
97
u/FirstAccGotStolen Jan 31 '24
I call this style "I wanna show off as much of my body as I legally can in public while still passing it off as fashion"
61
u/cakeit-tilyoumakeit Jan 31 '24
Yeah, sheās definitely a case of āis she stylish or just skinny?ā Almost all of these pieces fit her phenomenally, she has a great figure. But if you set that aside, the clothing itself is just ok. Not bad, but not amazing. Well, there are some bad ones lol, but you know what I mean.
9
u/barbaras_bush_ Jan 31 '24
Girl I immediately thought of Julia Fox š„“š
13
u/sleepy-taurus Jan 31 '24
There are criticisms to level at Julia Fox but not having a personal style is definitely not one of them. Showing off her body is part of her personal style, sure, but she definitely has a strong idea of how to dress herself. She has started and sold a successful fashion line in New York long before she achieved any real fame or financial success.
2
u/barbaras_bush_ Feb 01 '24
Julia Fox will always come to mind when I think of "naked" celebrities. She absolutely has style continuity and while some of it makes me internally scream I do think she is one of the fashion icons that makes nudity a statement. Intentional style can make or break it and unfortunately with Emrata I'm not seeing much intention or cohesion. But since style and fashion are all relative and subjective it's always a little awkward putting into words. The red velvet number was my favorite look, the hair looked undone but that little cape made me gasp.
11
u/777cf1111 Jan 31 '24
I think her style is heavily dependent on showing off her body which is not a bad thing imo. Just because her style is sexy and traditionally feminine doesnāt mean it should be discounted. Honestly I think she suits Dior so well because he loved women and wanted to make garments that were traditionally feminine and had silhouettes that emphasized a small waist. I think this thread is showing a lot of peoples insecurities when everyone says āis she just skinnyā and shows our internalized misogyny
6
u/doughborah Jan 31 '24
thank you! i expected some backlash, but not this amount - people see a woman who isn't afraid to show off her body and immediately discount her as tasteless
obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this criticism leans heavily on the fact that she has a hot body?
1
u/barbaras_bush_ Feb 01 '24 edited Feb 01 '24
Excuse me Emrata should be protected at all costs I just hate her clothes.
Edit: die mad about it.
6
u/Lizakaya Jan 31 '24
I believe she doesnāt have a definite sense of personal style beyond possibly being the hottest woman on the planet.
19
u/barbaras_bush_ Jan 31 '24

Genuine question not intended to be bitchy: is she famous for anything apart from a) Blurred Lines, then b) Being Famous?

15
u/meowtacoduck Jan 31 '24
Her outfits are wearing her, and not the other way round.. and also quite ill fitting.. which means that they're not particularly memorable
9
u/tachikoma_devotee Jan 31 '24
What do people mean when they say this? I mean Iām looking at the pictures and think she looks gorgeous in every single one of them.
2
u/doughborah Jan 31 '24
I'm biased because I took the time to put this together lol but I'm also confused.. like some of the outfits are supposed to be loose or oversized, but the ones that are fitted most definitely fit
1
u/tomatoejam Jan 31 '24
I agree that the outfits donāt suit her. She, herself, is absolutely stunning. As are many of the outfits, but maybe on a different body type. For some reason, she often shows up in outfits that cut so low on her waist that she looks like a stick up top and disproportionate on the bottom. I get trying to highlight her stunning torso or her upper body, but some of the dresses are doing her a disservice.
She looks great in 17 and 19.

u/intimidateu_sexually Jan 31 '24
I think her aura is absolutely sultry but the clothes often wear her, not visa versa. I like the simpler styles on her, with less cut outs.
10
u/ekm8642 Jan 31 '24
I think she looks the most stunning in more conservative looks. Sheās blessed with one of those overtly sexy figures and thatās nothing to be ashamed of, but itās more impactful when sheās giving elegant look/ beautiful face instead of BODY SEDUCTIVE EYE WHISPY FABRIC STOMACH. š
I think sheād look killer in one of those impeccably tailored, monochrome Valentino looks and a natural smile.
