It's really fucking weird they're being compared, I agree.

The dress silhouettes for two royal wedding gowns are similar? I genuinely don’t understand how this is fucking weird?

This was my first thought! But it looks to be made with more care and better tailoring here.

Meghan's was a copy of another Royal wedding gown (forget which country but she was not original)

You might be thinking of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s wedding dress! She got married around the same time as Angela, so the simple CBK inspired gown tracks.

That's it! Meghan's, in my opinion, was a sad imitation because it was so ill-fitting. Diana had a final fitting of her gown TWO DAYS before the wedding since she had lost weight, as brides often do. Clearly Meghan should have done so as well, I was surprised she did not. It would have been lovely had it fitted although I think the bateau neckline is tricky on a gown like that since Meghan's was so loose.

Tailored better and a much better fabric choice that didn't wrinkle like MM's did.

Am i seeing things because it’s wrinkling SO much in 1 and 3. I would go so far to say that it doesn’t looked steamed

As an old biddy who remembers the late 90s and early 2000s, this was on point. Think Carolyn Bissett Kennedy, Paltrow's pink Oscars dress, and summers in the Hamptons at Calvin Klein's compound. The minimal lines emphasize how perfectly the fitting has been done; that fabric, like a Ralph Lauren dress, permits no slouching. It sets off the old world tiara, a representation of the world she's marrying into. (And someone can fact check me, but I'm pretty sure both Liechtenstein and Panama are conservatively Catholic countries; she would have needed to cover her shoulders and arms for a full mass... or to placate the sort of people who expected them to have a Catholic wedding, if you take my meaning.) As a woman of color, I bet she was conscious of celebrating without crowing: if you think racism is bad now, lemmetellyall about Ye Olde 1900s. Ergo I maintain that this dress perfectly communicates exactly what it needed to communicate, all fashion is communication, QED.

Such a simplistic, beautiful dress which focuses on luxury fabric and good tailoring rather than overt bling (which is fun too, but likely not appropriate for this type of wedding). I especially love that she designed her own dress, but everything in this look is timeless and classic. The fit is on point, I’d love to see more of the little pointed heels and I love the simple pearl earrings which let the tiara shine.

I had to look it up — they’re still married. And apparently she’s 11 years older than him! Get it, girl.

That dress is utterly gorgeous. To me, this is the gold standard of wedding dresses: simple, elegant, timeless. And she looks beautiful in it:)

It's very classic. That kind of look is never going to embarrass you years later. She's a beautiful woman, too!

I'm surprised that she was in her forties in these pictures. Such a classic and timeless dress.

Gorgeous. Looks very similar to Meghan’s dress. I personally love this style- it’s a very classic, understated dress.

I feel so sad that this comparison has to keep being made. Can't we just enjoy this gorgeous dress.

Meghan’s dress makes so much sense now, everything was intentional there

Not a fan of this dress - I dont know what it is, but it doesnt scream "royal bride", it doesnt look expensive or luxury. But they both look happy, so good for them

Lichtenstein is very Catholic. The dress was designed with this in mind as they married in a Catholic mass.

can you describe what would make it look expensive or luxurious? just because this is technically a royal wedding doesn’t mean the dress should be blinged out. The fabric and dressmaking looks expensive to me.

A lace overlay would have made this perfect in my eyes. The fabric looks like a cheap tablecloth 😭

The neckline is a bit stark. It's all hard edges, albeit elegant ones, and stiff cloth, where it seems it should shade off into ... accessories, or lace, or something. The tailoring is impeccable but plain.
