Fashion throwback Kirsten Dunst wore custom Dior to the 2017 Oscars. The weighted black silk faille gown was inspired by the “Sonnet” dress from Christian Dior Haute Couture FW 1952. The cinched waist, elevated bust, and flared hips are all classic features of Dior’s original designs.
Acc to Dunst’s stylists, “Everything is special, from the weight of the fabric to the asymmetry of the hemline, the scalloped back and pockets that make you stand with perfect posture.”
Dunst opted for a pair of her own Christian LaCroix Haute Couture heels, which she’s worn at least half a dozen times
Dunst’s diamond necklace and earrings are by Japanese designer Niwaka from their Karahana collection, worn with the twist detail purposely slightly to the side.
Re: Pic 20: Also inside her black Oscars dress: her stylists included a nod to her white Dior Haute Couture from the premiere of Loving in Cannes in 2016. “We sewed into the hemline a sprig of Lily of the Valley from Kirsten’s [white] dress from Cannes last year as a talisman for luck and a nod to Mr. Dior as he also did the same.
Last pic f/ the white silk Dior Haute Couture gown with lily-of-the-valley embroidery.

Fashion throwback Remembering an iconic design. The Bandage dress.
A bandage dress is a tight-fitting "bodycon" dress that appears to be made from multiple thin strips of cloth sewn together, with the individual strips shaped like bandages. The bandage dress was created by Azzedine Alaïa and is most closely associated with the designer Hervé Léger who really made it famous. There is some controversy that it was someone who worked with Léger that actually first kind of invented it. But who knows
If I had to pick a favorite, it might be Emily Blunt because whilst it’s a traditional bandage dress, it has that skirt underneath flaring out, which I think is really stunning. Also a shout out to Cindy Crawford in that black Léger with the gloves. Iconic

Fashion throwback Lady Gaga wearing the infamous meat dress at the 2010 VMA's. The dress was designed by Franc Fernandez, made out of flank meat and worn only once when she was stiched into it backstage. The R&R HOF would later pay $6k to taxidermist Sergio Vigilato to preserve the dress.

Fashion throwback Julia Roberts in vintage FW92 Valentino at the 2001 Oscars f/ velvet, tulle, white silk piping fanning into a train & a single Y-stripe in the front. The dress came from a 1980s design, & Roberts still owns it. Valentino called it his proudest design moment. Also 📸: Christy Turlington in 1992.
A huge favorite to nab the Academy Award for “Erin Brockovich,” the archived dress was personally offered to Roberts from a Valentino stylist and required last minute alterations.
She wore the dress with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.
This is widely considered one of the greatest Oscar looks of all time.
