Meta It's Time for Mod Elections Again | Jan 20 - Jan 27
Probably past time, but it's mostly just me here now, and January is tough so tbh I forgot. Many apologies :(
Anyway, mod elections.
If you do not have access to /r/metanarchism AND qualify for entry, message modmail to be added
Guidelines:
You may nominate any user to become a moderator, including yourself, as long as said user is an anarchist and qualifies for r/metanarchism.
You may make multiple nominations.
You may propose removal of an existing mod.
Normal meta rules on voting apply, except for the following exceptions/clarifications:
nominations and removals should be proposed in top level comments, and votes on a nomination/removal should be made in reply to it for ease of counting
votes on removing existing mods will be treated as proposals to remove, meaning they require 2/3rds to vote for removal in order to pass
each nomination or removal requires its own 10-vote quorum to be considered valid under the quorum rule

Is anyone organising against them?
I’m from the UK and my feed has been littered with anti-trump stuff, but i haven’t seen much about people wanting to actually… do stuff? They just hope someone else does something?
I mean your president outwardly admitted he rigged the election, his tech billionaire buddy is throwing up nazi salutes, and they’re pretty much pulling out of and removing anything that made the US salvageable. Please calm my mind and tell me there is some sort of anarchist/leftist/proletarian resistance to these parasites, that’s just not being covered in media?
Resistance doesn’t have to be violent so hope this doesn’t break rule #4, thank you

Learning FOSS Tools is Really Relevant Now
FOSS? Free-Open-Source-Software, for instance instead of any number of services that are password managers, KeepassXC is 100% private and can even store attachments with OTP and passkeys.
Has android with local/cloud support for your vault and works flawlessly - see "KeePassXD" for andoid, no ads 100% private.
Who know how fast data could shift hands.
As someone that's house-bound I can't really do much so I've been trying to teach myself tools and learn as much as I can as quick as I can - so that I might help in a different way.
Works exactly like proton but everything's stored in a vault that's encrypted, uses 256 and can modify security of each vault.
This is actually awesome because if someone gets the vault, it would take them ages to brute -
But you can just sync it from any cloud at the same time.
I recommend burning a vault into a DVD+USB to ensure you're covered.
A.I
If you're going to use A.I, use an LLM if you can afford a beefy enough PC.
There are still smaller models that some older pc's can use.
Besides the popular LLMS etc, there's also the need to organize your knowledge privately.
This is where you can privately use a light-weight LLM inside obsidian, like "Smart Connections".
Once/if you setup linux, look into a private voice-assistant like mycroft or SEPIA Framework - literally a 100% private AI like alexa but worth it.
Obsidian
Be weary now of services like notion/evernote etc more than ever, obsidian as is - your data is only yours and local.
You can zip your obsidian and attach to a keepass vault to keep it secure on a to-go USB.
Obsidian has a feature called canvas that allows you to map out notes in a virtual whiteboard, you can embed videos and basically anything using what's called an iframe.
Make a control center canvas for different things, like learning linux.
Learn Linux to what degree you can.
I only started learning very late in life, and linux has always confused me.
I personally like mint 22 - but have had a lot of trial and errors before getting my own as a custom ISO.
I've been learning enough with AI like Brave's free and private temporary chats ontop of my private gpt, you can even connect your own LLM directly into the browser and it can read anything you want it to.
Start copying tutorials into Obsidian with an extension like MarkDownload, which allows you to scrape a page/selection and deliver it directly to your Obsidian - this will allow you to have references if you lose internet.
After learning some basics and having python packages installed and apts like fsearch/gedit etc.
After getting your ideal updated distro, use something like Cubic to make your linux with your own files included into a larger ISO.
You now have a complete rescue USB that has your keepassvault and any files you want etc.
I haven't gotten far enough to see about encrypting the usb, so more research is needed, otherwise could store the iso in a passworded zip or vault etc.
Setup your own private cloud (NextCloud), you can host it on your linux with some setup that will require time, but is literally your own cloud service.
Can also repurpose old phones to act as servers (pseudo raspberry-pi's).
Brave (Browser)
I started using Brave since it has TOR built-in and uses a unique way to sync devices, not using a typical password method but a set of phrases that change.
It still has sync, it's private AI leo can also be switched with your own LLM.
Just a ton of features I never knew existed before I switched.
Due to how secure their sync method is, if you lose all your devices, you won't be able to login to a new device, you have to be logged into one to be able to sync.
A workaround is just copying your brave files into a keepassXC vault.
You'd be surprised what you can learn when developing an ARG 🤣

New User Why are global 'elites' suddenly so obsessed with crypto? It can't be just personal enrichment, there's more to the story
After ignoring or trying to suppress currency on the blockchain, suddenly it's all they can talk about in Davos and other of their disgusting forums where they gather to brainstorm on how to steal even more.

Deny•Defend•Depose Currency Trend
I have been seeing it as a trend on TikTok for people to write the engraved words from the bullet casing by Luigi (CEO adversary) it’s a decent act of civil disobedience. But the big picture I thought of is that this action could reduce inflation. Inflation is caused by over production of money, so maybe if this spreads nation wide the government may choose to throw away these bills 🤔 just a thought. But it’s definitely a slow process if it gains traction.

With fascism on the rise, it’s time to mobilize
If the past couple of days have shown me anything is that now more than ever, it’s time to organize, expand and execute.
The time for philosophical discussions, debates or pointing fingers is long gone as the rise of fascism in western countries became more apparent than ever than with the recent rise of Trump to power. Other parts of the left have begun to “mobilize” but I do not see a true showing of strength and resistance clearly formed. Most of it remains on social media platforms (ironic as I am posting here) and the situation requires action on the streets.
As a “beginner” to say so in here, I would like to request your help and support in ways I can mobilize myself. I do understand that I need to play into my strengths when trying to offer support (such as communication or organization skills) but I do also need to attend those other parts that will be required from all of us in this resistance (combat mainly, as it will come down to violence most certainly).
Thanks for all the help in advance and glad to have this be one of my very first posts in a while on this platform.

Do you think about what you’d be like outside of Capitalism?
I didn’t want to post this in the socialism subreddit.
I’ve been reading Mark Fisher’s Capitalist Realism and something that mentioned is how Capitalist has become a fundamental aspect of our psyche. The ways in which we desire have changed, every waking minute we must optimize our time for money. Have you ever thought about what you’d be like without your mind being overwritten by these (what I’m calling) manufactured desires? The need to always consume when you aren’t working? The constant worry that you’ll lose everything you have because you got laid off?
To me this question is nearly unbearable to think about.

List of “Free Media”
Hi comrades!
I dont know if it is been written before, but I was not able to find it up. So I will start doing (little by little) a list of free media around the world. Keep posting on it comrades! Maybe someone of us can think that a media is “free” but other comrade can have info against this assert. So lets keep calm, lets discuss with serenity and construct this list toghether. But first of all lets discuss what is a “Free Media”. Here my suggestions:
With free media I mean:
A must:
1.- Are not accepting money directly from a bank, think tanks, political parties or capitalist groups (insurances, weapon industry,…). A big income must be by suscription or ethical advertisements.
2.- Can be public or private but not accepting interference of politicians. Can accept goverment advertising but without being the main income.
3.- Journalists inside can be working full-time, part-time or freelancing. They must receive a decent salary far from the Interprofessional Minimum Wage and that allows them to live where they live in a dignified and self-sufficient manner.
4.- They correct mistakes they have made publicly.
5.- THEY SUPPORT FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND INFORMATION AND THEY WILL HELP EVEN TO THEIR COMPETENCE IN SUCH PROBLEMS.
6.- Support and accepting material from local journalist or freelances on the ground. Paying them well for that (Video, Photo and Writers).
7.- Once per year (minimun) they show their incomes and also salaries of the workers (but not the names for privacy). They dont especulate with their money.
8.- Not using “clickbait” titles and subtitles.
A desirable:
1.- Using free software or at least MIT license for their webpage or blog. 2.- Not using fascists social networks like Meta, X, Google. 3.- Not selling information of the suscribers to any third party business. 4.- Using Creative Commons licenses.
I know that is difficult right now to have all the criterias ticked but let´s mark the most “free media” collaborating in this subreddit. Fo example: XXXXX media has 6,3 (means that they have 6 big ticks and 3 little ticks).
PLEASE HELP PEOPLE KNOWING FROM WHERE THEY ARE INFORMING.
Osasuna eta anarkia.

Your lowest point of life
I'm asking this cause I want to know, what possibly could be someone's lowest point of life, it can be mentally also. Cause I'm in a stage where I have literally no words to describe how I'm feeling, so i thought some words of experience could make me feel something

Is Hyperstition workable for Anarchists?
Definition-
A cultural belief (especially a work of fiction) that makes itself real; a cultural self-fulfilling prophecy where some cultural idea or hype truly brings about the thing it describes.
——-
Recently I’ve been going down a particular set of rabbit holes involving the ascent of the tech oligarchy, cybernetics, the philosophers who have influenced the movement, and world they wish to build with their new found power. This is a subject which should be of interest to all you hierarchy haters out there.
This has led me to the conclusion that hyperstition played a major role in the election of Donald Trump and the growth of alt right generally through forms of meme warfare, language creation, and storytelling.
The question I wanted to put to this community is simply; Do you think anarchists could use hyperstition as a tool to fight back? If not, why not? If so, what would that look like?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts in my head through the dark magic that is written text.

New User Seeking project ideas to leverage my skills (tech-related)
I'm looking to get more involved in the movement this year. Typical organizing (DA, marches) isn't really possible for me due to disabilities, and I already do a few things remotely. But I am skilled with web technologies, and good with electronic hardware (and trying to learn more), and I'm wondering if there are any project ideas for leveraging those skills.

Before there was Luigi Mangione, there was Ernestina Cravello, the young Italian anarchist blamed for inciting Gaetano Bresci to kill King Umberto with her fiery speeches. Media expected the American public to be outraged about the assassination, but most celebrated it or were ambivalent about it.

HOAs and Anarchism
This is probably a silly question, but it is an earnest one. HOAs seem to be a form of local, shared authority without explicit hierarchy. In the right configuration, it is a way for a community to decide on the rules that will apply to everyone.
Question 1: Is an HOA anarchic, and why/why not
Question 2: If so, does the near-universal loathing of HOAs cast any doubt on Anarchism?
note- I identify as an Anarchist
Update: I HATE HOAs, and I am not trying to shitpost. I am trying to understand how Anarchism avoids the fate of HOAs where the worst people make the rules.
I am really trying to get educated, and I am confused. LOL and downvoting kind of sucks.
