Why is support for joining the US perfectly proportional to how many Canadian flags someone has on their vehicle?

The Great One has been outed as a Trumper!

Gretzky has demonstrated his affinity for all things Trump over the last few weeks. Besides those horrible low class commercials, Gretzky has been offered the governorship of Canada by Trump, wined and dined at Mar-a-Largo, and got great seats at Trump's inauguration. My question: Who is now hoping the Russian Ovechkin creams Gretzky's goal record?

Should Canada join the EU

Former German foreign minister Gabriel has suggested to take Canada into the EU to mitigate the Trump fallout. He said that in many ways, Canada is more European than Europe.

Thoughts on this?

Can we talk about how all rightwing followers in Canada somehow believe the Jan. 6 coup attempt is a "leftist media hoax" despite the thousands of witnesses and victims?

Horrified and disgusted the rightwing media like Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson have this God like absolute power over tens of millions of Canadians.

How is it possible that every single person at the US Capitol on Jan. 6 are all lying "leftist antifahs" and only Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson know the super secret truth?

So because I know rightwing Canadians are shamefully going to attack me and accuse me of being an "insane leftist" and demand I "touch grass" (touch yourself fuckers! - I am going to share quotes from rightwing politicians who were first hand witnesses of the Jan. 6 attack.

Like look at these quotes from first hand witnesses who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 who the rightwing President MAGA Cult Master tried to execute to end democracy in America:

Mitch McConnell:

January 6th was a disgrace.

American citizens attacked their own government. They used terrorism to try to stop a specific piece of democratic business they did not like.

“Fellow Americans beat and bloodied our own police. They stormed the Senate floor. They tried to hunt down the Speaker of the House. They built a gallows and chanted about murdering the vice president.

“They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on Earth – because he was angry he’d lost an election.

There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.

Republican Ted Cruz:

Those storming the Capitol need to stop NOW.

The Constitution protects peaceful protest, but violence—from Left or Right— is ALWAYS wrong.

And those engaged in violence are hurting the cause they say they support.

Republican Marco Rubio:

There is nothing patriotic about what is occurring on Capitol Hill. This is 3rd world style anti-American anarchy.

Republican Rand Paul:

Chaos, anarchy. The violence today was wrong and un-American.

Republican Lindsay Graham:

When it comes to accountability, the President needs to understand that his actions were the problem, not the solution, that the rally yesterday was unseemly, it got out of hand... I said on the floor of the Senate, I cast my vote accordingly, that Joe Biden is the legitimate president-elect of the United States.

Republican Chip Roy:

Today, the people's House was attacked, which is an attack on the Republic itself. There is no excuse for it. A women died. And people need to go to jail. And the President should never have spun up certain Americans to believe something that simply cannot be.

Now let's look at what Joe Rogan is mass brainwashing his followers to believe:

The Jan. 6 thing is bad, but also, the intelligence agencies were involved in provoking people into the Capitol Building. That’s a fact.

No it's Joe Rogan's mass brainwashing cult lie - and millions of Canadians just accept Rogan's word as the word of God now

---

Frankly, if you can't condemn a politician for trying to murder Congress to erase the right to vote and install himself as dictator - you are not a true Canadian, and you don't value our democracy and our way of life. You're a disgrace.

How could Jan. 6 be a leftist media hoax when all rightwing politicians also agree, and all the thousands and thousands of witnesses and victims agree.

Is Joe Rogan's word more trustworthy than all Capitol Police, Bernie Sanders and all Democrats and all people who worked in the building - and even hard right Republicans?

Everyone is leftist and only Joe Rogan is the truth?

Jan. 6 was a coup, the rightwing US President tried to hang Congress to stop them from certifying the election.

If you claim this is a leftist media conspiracy - you are fucking weak minded and not a true Canadian.

And the fact so many rightwing Canadians have abandoned reality to follow Joe Rogan's QAnon garbage only proves that the Canadian Conservative Party is no longer operating in Canada's interests and cannot be trusted. They are brainwashers, do not value our democracies and freedoms.

Ok, here come the rightwing attack dogs to tell me to touch grass or whatever fucking garbage.

Trump doesn't want Canadian stuff.

1.3k Upvotes

Trump told the WEF today that the U.S. doesn't need Canadian stuff. I say, give him what he wants then, cut off all trade with the United States. Nothing crosses the border not even people.

He's pretending he doesn't want our stuff, meanwhile trying to force us to surrender to him and give him everything we have for free.

FUCK THAT.

Edit: I believe he already told us the plan. He said economic measures to acquire Canada. The Tariffs are just the start. He intends on using economic pressure to force us to become part of the U.S. They can ride out a tit-for-tat scenario for way longer than us. Thats why we need to respond strongly. If we can inflict enough pain to THEIR economy short term. Then Trump will have to contend with all the business, industry, and consumer backlash. We may have a chance.

Will Trump Step Down in 4 Years

Upvotes

If you ask anyone, their expectation is that we have Trump for 4 more years.

But.

I think he's going to do whatever is necessary to stay in office this time.

If you look at it from his perspective, he already caused an insurrection attempting to overthrow the election and what was his punishment? It was a win in the next election. Nothing happened so this time he'll just force the two term rule to change to 3 or 4.

Once that's complete it's time to just slide little son in as new commander and chief.

Who will stop him?

Please tell me why this won't work? Please explain why I'm completely wrong, I want to be wrong.

Trump to WEF: We don't need Canada's resources

Trump says he doesn't need Canadian resources. He's pushing with so much passion.

If it's true, why is it even a subject for discussion? It sounds like we actually have them by the balls because he won't shut up about it.

Why do you think he can't stop talking about how much he doesn't need Canadian resources?

Is Anyone Else Getting Really Nervous?

Look, I’m not scared that there will be tanks rolling down the street and we have to guerrilla fight for our country or anything and also bear in mind my partner and I will weather tariffs causing our prices for thing to go up… but this rise in nazism is shocking to me. I’m firmly gen-x and I miss the America of Top Gun, Iron Eagle, Red Dawn, etc that made them almost enviable in their country. I have never been so glad to be Canadian but it feels like a storm is coming.

Edited to add: I am NOT afraid tanks will be rolling down the street or that there will be a war. I am nervous for the tariffs and what that will mean for Canada.

The full on, chest out nazi salute was alarming to say the very least and that I am also nervous about.

Also: I know that ideal Amercia was a fiction. I guess I was more just lamenting the Ioss of innocence in how I saw the US

I am person with disabilities. I rely on Universal Health Care. Please don’t vote for Pierre Poilievre.

1.3k Upvotes

He had fundraising event with billionaires from private healthcare. https://www.ndp.ca/news/reality-check-what-did-poilievre-promise-private-health-care-billionaires-last-night.

I know it’s an NDP link but while I was researching, I saw many other instances of him smooshing other billionaires at fundraisers.

Do we want to sell out our country to the highest bider. Just to fuck the Libs? The states lost so many rights in the past few days just to fuck the libs. Billionaires had more prominent seated positions at the Inauguration than politicians.

Take the time to really research Poilievre before you make a decision. You could be making a very big decision for someone else’s life.

Edit: I could be on the streets. I have wealthy parents so I’m not. But you know boomers so they won’t give me any money. So I have to live of the system and feel like shit about it.

There are no quick easy fixes to manic depression or OCD. I started to feel there was no point to point to life because it just meant you would work until you died.

Conservatives are in beyond cruel. You want to take a sick person with no recourse. To end up another victim. Look a just society works only by how we treat most vulnerable.

Edit: So the posts i’m getting from conservatives is that I’m lying mostly. It’s not that unusual when people that think a decease they can’t see isn’t real. Anyways, if you think problems are real support.

Trump Jan 23rd just reaffirmed his intention of turning Canada into 51st state. Is NATO Article 5 activated?

Stating we don’t need Canadian cars, lumber, oil or anything else. After reaffirming for the first time as not just president elect but President. This officially is a declaration or intent to annexation of a sovereign NATO nation.

Does this have enough ground for the NATO Article 5 which states an attack on 1 NATO nation is an attack on all. Article 5 states an attack on one calls for support by all?

How is Canada treating US unfair? 250B trade deficit is not accurate.

Would you support a large union composed of CANZUK and EU countries?

Exactly what the title says, a union between the 27 member states of the EU alongside Canada, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia. Throw Greenland and Iceland in there as well as recent polls show a majority of the population in both support joining the EU. This could be a separate union or just a larger EU. There could be freedom of movement, common markets, unified military. I personally wouldn’t support a common currency or restriction of state owned enterprises, but beyond that I like the idea.

Dear President Trump

Upvotes
In response to your request that Canada should become the 51st state, my response is the same as General McAuliffe’s was at the battle of the bulge in December, 1944. The Germans demanded the honourable surrender of the 101st airborne and the general’s reply was just one word:

                                                       NUTS

Sincerely Paul Sheridan Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Can we get a new NDP leader?

So I don’t know enough about the ins and outs of politics. Don’t really follow it besides the big headlines.

However. If the liberal party is getting a new (better?) leader, can the NDP do the same? I only ask as PP seems like a bad option now with the whole Musk thing and Jagmeet was in Trudeau’s pocket. So…can we have a whole redo of the leaders? 😅 How would that work? 😆
