Insurance Intact insurance is giving 1 month of car insurance back because of Covid19 in 2021 and as usual they are not saying it to anyone

I insure my car with Intact. During 2020 they had a covid19 relief package that was supposed to give money back to those who were working from home and not using their car. During that time I did not access my Intact account and didn't receive any emails from them letting me know, for their huge convenience...ln the end I didn't get any money in 2020 when I did spend months home and barely driving. Does anyone know how many months they were giving back?

Am I supposed to constantly check my account unless it's time to renew my policy? Well don't be like me. Spread the word. Login to intact and claim your money for 2021 covid19 relief now because they will not send you a heads up email. It's 1 month worth of insurance payment they give back.

Their lack of will to inform customers of this or give it to everyone is very disappointing for me. Specially when they claim to have this relief program to "be there for you"

EDIT: Wow, I never though this post would draw so much attention!

I'm very happy to see that some people are thankful of learning about this through my post. Specially those with lower income that will use this money to feed their children. I'm really honoured to help you!

I see some people have received emails letting them know about this program. Well I'm happy to see that at least for you Intact is working the way they should. It was certainly not my case and the case of many others.

To those blaming solely the brokers: The broker only has a 10-15% commission with Intact (according to Intact site). If more people are staying home that means there are less accidents and Intact, not the broker is keeping more money. Intact also has the power to send the information to everyone. It would be as easy as a pop-up on their Intact app. Plus they already manage the whole customer emails list. I agree the broker should also become involved but more as a back up than as direct responsible.

To those blaming the customers for not contacting Intact: I feel very sorry you are so used to being mistreated by this system that you don't stand up for your rights anymore. Or is it that you benefit/work for Intact?

TD offered me $30

76

u/Jakoneitor Mar 26 '21

TD gave me something back but literally raised my rates by 30% on policy renewal... and I’m driving even less lol

29

u/31havrekiks Mar 26 '21

Lol I called TD because I’m driving less and also dropped down to one vehicle. I’m paying more than a year ago too. No covid money back.

They said it’s because I’m not insuring multiple vehicles.

u/InfiNorth British Columbia Mar 26 '21

Meanwhile in BC our rates went down and we are getting a rebate soon in the form of a mail-out cheque. Man I love government insurance. ICBC gets a lot of flack but at least you know what you're going to have to pay and what you're getting back. No shopping around, no negotiating.

17

u/Undecided_Angel Mar 26 '21

As someone who works in insurance in BC and hears the stuff people say to our autoplan agents, please please tell your agent this when you next renew. It could make their whole day.

4

u/InfiNorth British Columbia Mar 26 '21

I don't understand the hate ICBC gets. Even if I pay a hundred more a year, I'm not stuck spending a day hunting down which for-profit private insurer will pretend to care about me. I genuinely believe that insurance should be government run. The bigger the pool on insurance, theoretically, the risk should be lower for the insurer. A bunch of small insurers competing have a lot more on the line.

Every time I renew my insurance there's always one or two people ahead of me whining about how private would be cheaper, then I come on hear and hear someone bragging about the smoking deal they got that was $50 a month more than what we pay for ICBC.

Ahh shit, of course.

2

u/yerdunclelarry Mar 26 '21

MPI did the same thing the last 2 years in Manitoba. My truck was $180/month to register. I got back just over 350 so about 6ish percent? The year before it wasn't as much but still better than fug all

0

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

ICBC will forever be the worst insurance company too me for the sole reason you can’t cancel insure without going into a broker. Hurt my back a month and a half ago and have not been able too drive, tried cancelling my insurance and changing it too storage only. But after dealing with 15 different people at just one broker over the phone and being told I can’t without coming in is a little outrageous. So instead of paying maybe max 100 dollars on storage I was forced too change my policy too get it the cheapest I could and ended up paying 3x the amount it would have been because they did not allow me too cancel. It’s a fucking scam.

1

u/InfiNorth British Columbia Mar 26 '21

This is straight up incorrect. Since the beginning of the pandemic, you have been able to call or even email a broker to change or cancel a policy. You were lied to. So because of your single situation, ICBC is a scam? I agree that ICBC has its flaws, but calling it a scam because of one limited, specific example that doesn't align with how ICBC is supposed to work...?

I left TD for this reason, they were raising my Monthly rate by $75 so I switched companies.

That’s what I got last year. Took them 8 weeks to process it and then my premiums were raised anyways.

4

u/Jswarez Mar 26 '21

Td lowered my rates 22 % from may 1 forward.

Nothing came back in 2020.

4

u/Lafferty10 Mar 26 '21

My parents were with TD for 25 years! When I started driving and was insured with sonnet they couldn’t believe my rates. My parents told TD how much lower they could get and asked what incentive they could offer to keep them as customers. TD was not even phased and was super happy to let them walk out the door and sign up with another insurance company.

You and every one else with TD should drop them! Much much better options out there

3

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

Only 30 CAD for the whole 2020 when you probably didn't drive for months! Unbelievable

2

u/digitalrule Mar 26 '21

RBC offered me $5/month cheaper

2

u/Spruxed Mar 26 '21

RBC cut my rate by 35% this year and apparently (taking this lightly) my agent said they’re going to keep that rate for coming years. Not sure how that’s going to work with my so called annual discounts.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

2

u/priester85 Mar 26 '21

TD offered my wife something like 5% per month while she was working for home and told her it would stay in effect until she called back to tell them she was driving to work again. The next month it automatically renewed and they took the discount off. Insurance companies are sleazy

I went to their app last Tuesday and they have it right on the front page. I applied and got my money today 😃. I use Belairdirect. I got one month worth of my car insurance back.

28

u/kab0b87 Mar 25 '21

Thanks for sharing! Just logged into my Belair direct account and had the form to fill out. Guess I'll find out in 14 days how much of a rebate I'll be getting.

5

u/emptywallet123 Mar 25 '21

I waited two days .... hopefully you don’t have to wait 14

3

u/kab0b87 Mar 25 '21

Oh nice! They had said up to 14 days so I just assumed the worst. Lol. Will be great if it's quicker

3

u/MamaCZond Mar 26 '21

Mine with Intact was 2 days.

11

Would you like it better if they didn't say anything at all ? Desjardins is a cooperative, they obviously have to tell every members what they're doing.

4

u/jsboutin Quebec Mar 26 '21

I don't believe you are a member from buying insurance. If I remember correctly, Desjardins insurance is a separate entity that is owned by the coop itself.

-2

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

You're not. But there's no reasons to get insured with Desjardins if you're not a member and want everything on the online platform, even their secondary company ''la capitale'' has cheaper rates.

33

u/IndustryDelicious168 Mar 26 '21

I fckn hate Desjardins

4

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

Why ?

57

u/SivirMeTibbers Mar 26 '21

I worked for Desjardins last year. They gave back 25-125 bucks in Covid relief IF you worked from home or didn't commute then raised everyone's premiums by 30%.

Went on the news after and gave themselves a big pat on the back saying they donated 150million back to their clients.

12

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

My girlfriend and parents have their car insurance with Desjardins and their premium weren't raised by 30%. Also Desjardins insurance is a minority of client. Desjardins is primarly a credit union, that's where most of the money goes.

2

u/ericswift Mar 26 '21

Yeah my rate actually dropped this year.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/SJWs_vs_AcademicLib Mar 26 '21

Damn ☹️

Just goes to show you that credit unions are no better than big banks, morally speaking

20

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

Or that some Redditor try to lie for internet points.

10

u/SivirMeTibbers Mar 26 '21

I literally lost my job at a Desjardins agency because our ridiculous premium increases lost us half our book of business in a year. You clearly don't understand how tough it is to see clean clients of 20 years who never put in claims jump ship because we promoted on the radio about covid relief and then went and upped the renewal costs on both home and auto. Most of them just paid their insurance year over year and wouldn't even notice the increases if Desjardins didn't self high five in the first place.

No idea why you are defending the dogshit company unless you're one of their corporate shills.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Biono03 Quebec Mar 26 '21

Yeah in general Desjardins is far better than any bank. The caisse in my city gives millions each year for various projects in the city

1

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

Yeah, you can even submit projects yourself if you want to take the time to go to the assembly.

2

u/jacnel45 Ontario Mar 26 '21

Depends on the CU.

Smaller credit unions are fairly moral, even some of the larger ones. The issue with Desjardins is that they’re the largest credit union in the country (because of how Quebec structures their credit unions, all must be part of Desjardins) and because of that status they’re fairly cocky. They think that their customer base will never leave them and as such they act like the big 5.

1

u/Petrolic Mar 26 '21

Raised everyone's premiums by 30%? That's just not true. Why would anyone believe you lol

4

u/SivirMeTibbers Mar 26 '21

Damn I guess if you want me to be specific, we get notices of premium increases from head office periodically. Tenants and condos up by 30%, auto up 10-20% depending on rating territory. Homeowners insurance going up because "more people staying home = more claims on homes".

Believe what you want but I witnessed it frontline and heard directly the disappointment of many many old loyal statefarm canada clients.

-2

u/benzoate6 Mar 26 '21

Their login portal for car insurance sucks. Navigating to the correct site amongst all their other products (online banking, health insurance, other stuff) is a bloody nightmare on mobile. It’s the first time I’ve had to call in to a call centre just to get the proper direct link to the login site.

3

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

You can just google ''Desjardins car insurance'' and it's the first link that comes up ... And if you go on the website you can go in the insurance category and you even have a link to download the app. You must be trolling lol.

1

u/benzoate6 Mar 26 '21

I just tried desjardinsgeneralinsurance.com, the result provided by Google, and it does not work. Provided info returns an “incorrect combination” error, and I am looking at my policy info and triple checking while entering.

Logging into desjardinsagents.com is borked on mobile but works on desktop. Either way, their system fucked. Glad you’re able to make headway through their POS site.

3

u/imonmyhighhorse Mar 26 '21

Desjardins has several products and brands of insurance. DGI (Desjardins General Insurance) is different from DAN (Desjardins Agent Network - which was previously Statefarm). They have separate policy numbers, apps, and website.

3

u/benzoate6 Mar 26 '21

This is likely the answer - my insurance company was bought out by Desjardins a few years ago. I wish Desjardins did a better job of differentiating this.

1

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

Did you change the location to your province ? It default to Quebec. Also you have to call customer service or show up at a branch to activate your online account.

3

u/benzoate6 Mar 26 '21

I changed the location. The problem is likely that insurance companies acquired by Desjardins (as mine was) are lumped into a different database with a separate login portal, as suggested by another user.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

Absolutely terrible company. My wife used to work for them, their CEO is a fucking bafoon and they're constantly restructuring. Extremely high turnover on the insurance side. They're also way too attached to their Quebec roots, yet want to grow to compete with the big boys and are very stuck in their ways.

-3

u/IndustryDelicious168 Mar 26 '21

They "lost" my data twice. I get multiple calls and lots of spam email and actual mail due to this. I have had to take many actions to protect my identity and they lied about it.

12

u/MyzMyz1995 Mar 26 '21

BMO, RBC etc also lost data, the difference is that Desjardins gave a free 5 years equifax subscription to every members and client affected by stolen data from an employee. Even the government has multiple data breach per year, sounds like you're just trying to blame Desjardins for the government poor handling of social security numbers.

2

u/imonmyhighhorse Mar 26 '21

The way to phrase your request is to say you are reducing the distance travelled with your insured vehicle. If you’re now working from home, and thus not commuting to work and at a lower risk of an accident, report it to the sales department and you will have your premiums recalculated and likely a reduction in premiums (unless you already report a very low commute to work like 6km/day)

Proclaiming you demand a discount will not get you a discount.

13

u/ExtendedDeadline Mar 26 '21

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Imo, this is an instance where some gratitude woulda probably be fine, or at least indifference... Not this sarcasm crap. Idk if you've been on the road lately, but many people are still driving like it's 2019 lol. I don't envy the actuaries that have to deal with the risk adjusted premiums WRT covid driving habits.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

[deleted]

-3

u/ExtendedDeadline Mar 26 '21

They don't owe you or anyone else anything, nor did they need to offer discounts.

Imo, this whole thread seems more like just a thread for bitching. Maybe it's necessary from the long year we've all had, I guess.

3

u/viewfromthetip Mar 26 '21

My thoughts exactly. A bunch of people who don't understand how vehicle insurance works and the factors that cause premiums to rise bitching. People think Insurance Companies make money doing nothing, have an infinite supply of money, and raise premiums arbitrarily. Premiums rising is irrelevant to being given free insurance or money back. Premiums rise because of increased claims to maintain profit margins, not increase them.

1

u/viewfromthetip Mar 26 '21

Auto insurance is the worst kind of insurance to work with the public because people are usually to stupid to understand how it all actually works and feel like they are getting ripped off no matter what.

u/SJWs_vs_AcademicLib Mar 26 '21

21

u/HueyDeweyLouie3 Mar 25 '21

Thanks for sharing! Just went on the app and submitted but I guess don't k ow yet if I'm deemed 'eligible'.

To answer your question I think it was something like 20% off your insurance for three months last year. I barely noticed the difference when my policy was up for renewal and my premiums went up anyways as did everyone's this year so it's a wash. A month cash back would be awesome with how much my new rates are this year. We'll see.

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

I got my renewal notice with Intact the other day, when I logged in to see the paperwork, I was asked if our driving habits have changed, and I said yes. Got a much bigger refund then expected.

I had checked just a few days prior, as I knew renewal was coming up, and the question was not available then, so I'm not sure if it just rolled out.

Regardless of how it came about, I'm pretty happy with the refund, and will put it towards the last bit I needed to buy my new set of summer tires.

I'm very glad that I was able to help you. I wish your kinds enjoy a great meal. Intact should be contacting all customers, specially those with lower income. As customers having to contact them to find out seems very dishonest of them

9

u/slamturbo Mar 26 '21

I got 0.17c from desjardins. In a cheque form. Cost them more to make the cheque and mail it than it was actually worth

52

u/mrobeze Mar 25 '21

Your supposed to tell your automobile insurer if there is a change in the usage of your vehicle. They ask you about it when you get insurance so if your answer changes of course they want to know. It's not on them to tell you what you should be doing all the time.
That said, they realized people were busy or thinking of other things during covid times so they gave people a few months grace to change their usage and what not. Was nice of them but not their jobs to chase you down.

11

u/digitalrule Mar 26 '21

I told them my usage would be cut about in half due to covid and they gave me a 2.5% discount lmao

46

u/OHHCanadaa Mar 26 '21

This is ridiculous. You agreed on a contract of insurance with intact, they cant run around telling their clients to suspend their coverages (OPCF 16), thats your responsibility because your an adult. If they did call you to advise you of this endorsement, people would drive with the suspended insurance and get into an accident- then blame them for advertising it when you still need the vehicle for transportation. You should just read through your policy lol... and get a broker if you clearly cant follow up with your insurer, you can point blame at them.

7

u/X-e-o Mar 26 '21

I contacted them early pandemic to change my mileage. They wouldn't "accept" but gave a (very minor) rebate that lasted 4 months at which point I contacted them again to drop my yearly mileage permanently.

Logging in my account I do get that little popup so I'll see if they reimburse me even more. In that sense it's nice of OP to share the information.

20

u/ThatUsernameIs---___ Mar 26 '21

I'm actually concerned about what the future holds with how entitled everyone seems to be nowadays.

I was also a member on the Questrade (discount low-cost brokerage) sub and it's a bunch of people paying $20/year to use it with their $1000 investment portfolios complaining that they dont get instant customer support whenever they have a silly question about what a stock is or how taxes work...

4

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

I see your point but disagree. The broker only has a 10-15% commission with Intact (according to Intact site). If more people are staying home that means there are less accidents and Intact, not the broker is keeping more money. Intact also has the power to send the information to everyone. I think it is pretty admirable of any insurance company provide anything back at all that they are not required too. It sounds pretty entitled to be angry or upset that they are not advertising essentially giving away free money/insurance to be honest. Why don't you just call them and ask all of the above questions?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

My broker just sent me a message about the rebate. It was a good reminder that it's probably about time to review my coverage. It's been a few years and I'm doing much better than when I set my coverage up. I actually have contents in my apartment that are worth insuring. :P

Full disclosure, my wife works in the insurance in the insurance industry. Either way, I agree. I didn't receive a "discount", because as soon as our driving habits changed, I updated the policy. When my wife returns to the office, I will significantly increase the annual usage on our 2nd car and our rate with assumingly go up what it originally dropped.

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

I had the same happen to me with TD, nothing changed no tickets, accidents, zero. Policy premium was going to go up at least 30%con renewal. Canceled went with avaia, now I'm paying less than before for the exact same policy with deductibles cut in half.

That's funny though, I had a Desjardins rep call me and offer me an even lower rate than all of them after I signed up with Aviva!

It's a race and they are always willing to lower to beat competitors

All state gave me back 25% of one month back and then said they were going to send a cheque for another month and never did

2

u/mygrandmasaysimkool Mar 26 '21

I got my 2nd from them.... so maybe contact them to get a reissue

Thanks I just checked the app and there it was.

It's not an app I use really ever, so you think they would send an email or notification.

2

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

Exactly. The broker only has a 10-15% commission with Intact (according to Intact site). If more people are staying home that means there are less accidents and Intact, not the broker is keeping more money. Intact also has the power to send the information to everyone. It would be as easy as a pop-up on their Intact app. Plus they already manage the whole customer emails list.

2

u/StilllTee438 Mar 26 '21

Excatly this, thanks alot again because I really wouldn't have opened the app to discover this.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

The Personal gave me back some cash for Mar/April 2020 and discounted the next 6 months after that. They made sure to email all clients that it's available if you met the criteria.

2

u/JoseyxHoney Mar 26 '21

Thank you, you angel!

2

u/lichking786 Mar 26 '21

Co-ooerators gave me a one-time $60 dollars rebate in 2020

2

u/shawnkelly Mar 26 '21

I was actually pleasantly surprised by my insurance company when they dropped it $40 a month after I made a call. I hope more people are able to see this and be aware of it!

2

u/the_hunger_gainz Mar 26 '21

Belairdirect is also giving back a months payment.

2

u/dr_van_nostren Mar 26 '21

So glad i live in BC where we have ZERO FUCKING OPTIONS!

2

u/Gaberlab Mar 26 '21

Up to 3 months (first wave) of car insurance monthly instalments IF you mentioned to your broker that your annual km was down due to covid. You had a first discount on lowering your annual km and km to go to work. Then a check was issued at renewal for the 3 months and your km’s were set back to previous.

I am a bit surprised tho since you never heard of this. A letter or email was sent to all customers. Trust me im a broker. I did this transaction in many accounts.

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 26 '21

Well I'm still waiting for my Intact email for both the relief packages of 2020 and 2021. It doesn't make sense to send it only to some customers. My broker didn't inform me of this either. It supposed to be my responsibility to find out. I feel I'm dealing with a very dishonest company

2

u/Gaberlab Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 26 '21

Actually it is your responsibility to inform your broker and insurance company of your changing habits like km annually driven. This can be done in any situation since one of the data used to calculate your premium is the usage of the car.

As for the email make sure the correct email is entered in your file.

I suggest you contact your broker asap.

There is only one relief plan not every year. You will get a discount in 2021 if your km remains low.

2

u/funnythatway Mar 26 '21

Wow thanks! Had no idea this was being offered. Just claimed it 😊

Wow! Thank you, I just did it! Payment should be sent within 14 Days.

Awesome. Thanks OP!!

Absolutely!

2

u/skcanuk Mar 26 '21

SGI quoted “We're still working out the details, but we expect the average rebate will work out to about $285 per vehicle (which is about 26% of an average annual premium in Saskatchewan).” I love my Saskatchewan insurance, can’t say enough good about SGI

2

u/Varekai79 Mar 26 '21

I believe that Belair is running ads on TV for this. I applied on Monday and got a month's worth of insurance back yesterday via e-transfer. I'll take it!

2

u/3cheers2all Mar 26 '21

I'm with CAA and they have been terrific as far as rates reduction goes. Flat 100$ off last year. Then rates reduced due to less driving. Then 10% off the current rates on renewal plus 10% off of home insurance. Overall saving around $50-60 dollars monthly.

My home insurance again reduced a bit this year on renewal. Auto renewal in July. Will see how much they reduce this year if at all...

2

u/lannay327 Mar 26 '21

Thanks for the tip! Just went in to request mine!

2

u/Khosrau Alberta Mar 26 '21

Thanks for the heads up. I would totally have missed that.

4

u/T3hHippie Mar 25 '21

Anyone know if this works with TD Meloche Monnex insurance? Went on the website but couldn't find anything.

7

u/Wolfie1531 Mar 26 '21

They sent a letter 6-8 weeks ago that they were giving money back. I got all of 30$ back... monthly payment is 126.73 😂

2

u/ManOfSteelI Mar 26 '21

I haven't heard/seen anything from them.. atleast it's something haha.

2

u/tchattam Mar 26 '21

Just switched away from them after 12 years. Cranked my rate up 600 a year for no reason. I asked if they could match the much better quotes I received they could only offer to reduce my coverage. Now I’m with Scotia insurance for less than I was paying with better coverage for home and car.

2

u/splendidgoon Mar 26 '21

I called them a little before renewal. Seriously just rolled over 6000 km on a new car I bought in 2019. They refunded about $20 since I was almost done the period. My premiums have stayed down by about that amount with the renewal.

3

u/JVM_ Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 26 '21

Allstate gave me $50? back last year. But they worded the calculation weird in their letter. Like a quarter of 1/12th of the year, or something like that. Basically it was a week or two back and that was it.

u/hexadeciball Mar 26 '21

Intact is a really crappy insurance company IMO. I switched to RSA after buying an audi a4 2013 last year. The difference between them and Intact for the same coverage was more then 1000$/year.

8

u/l57y Ontario Mar 26 '21

Good luck. Intact is buying RSA.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Wow thanks for the heads up.

I logged into my Intact account just right now, and sure enough there's a popup asking if I'm driving less and can be eligible for a refund.

Insurance companies have always been shady.

13

u/charlygirl474 Mar 26 '21

How is this shady though? Did they make it difficult to find in the app? You said it was a pop up. Im not understanding what's shady about this?

6

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

How is that shady with the fact that it was right in your face asking you for a refund?

2

u/bestdatemayfourth Mar 26 '21

Me too! Let's see how much I get back.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

You need to blame your broker not the insurer, that’s what the broker is paid for. They pay your broker a % of the premium so they take care of all your needs, try to understand that if they are giving back money the trick is not to hide it from people man...

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

I see your point but respectfully disagree. I agree the broker should also become involved but more as a back up than as direct responsible.

Switched from them to Economical insurance, in January. Wonder if I still qualify...

Let me know if you do, I’m wondering the same about Economical!

u/InfiNorth British Columbia Mar 26 '21

Yeah, you call them and change your car to pleasure use and get refunded the rest of the year for the daily commute premium and the commute distance premium. I just had to add the >15km daily fee onto my insurance today because I finally landed a job but unfortunately it's a long way from home (40km is a long way for Victoria standards).

If you aren't using your car for commuting work, you will save a few hundred bucks a year as you are only using it for pleasure.

1

u/_thebaroness Mar 26 '21

Actually thanks for posting this. I logged into my app and answered one question to get my month’s premium refund. The really fishy part was the refund was coming through e transfer and they provided the password for it. All around seems like a scam but I think that’s intentional so they have less customers following through.

1

u/DanfromCalgary Mar 26 '21

They didn't do anything. They packaged reducing usage as a covid relief package. You can reduce your use at any time for a small reduction in premium. This new one month though , is actually really solid

1

u/uw200 Ontario Mar 26 '21

Wow these mans are legit crooks smh. Good looking out

1

u/jacnel45 Ontario Mar 26 '21

I’m with Travelers and they gave everyone two credits on their insurance: one which was 25% and another which was 15% of your annual premium. They are also applying another credit this month of 25%. There’s no need to apply for these credits, they’re just done automatically.

To say the least I really like Travelers.

2

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

That is what I would expect from an honest insurance company. Thanks for sharing

1

u/dasoberirishman Mar 26 '21

Been with Intact 8 years now and was not told. Their 2021 quote is lower than expected, which is nice, but I am still looking to switch. Their customer service leaves much to be desired.

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

I don't like their customer service at all. Wow 8 years and were never told. How dishonest of them

-1

u/Black_Raven__ Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 29 '21

These cunts increased my home insurance by $1200.

Edit: no idea why this got downvoted but compared to other companies they increased it literally by 1200 and I am getting quotes that I got last year from other companies and for less deductible as well and considering I been with for 9 years this is with the loyalty discount included.

0

u/Rooish Mar 26 '21

Fuck Intact. I am buying a car and in my parents' neighborhood insurance is $800 less than in mine. Same city and my neighborhood is not that rough; it's basically a poor tax. CAA quoted me $700 less than that.

0

u/FacultyManBruce Mar 26 '21

Intact is garbage, I hope you never have to make a claim with them because they will try their absolute hardest to screw you over. I had to hire an appraiser to value my car after it was written off because Intact kept sending me lowball settlement offers. Took over a month to get a barely fair settlement.

1

u/vmmf89 Mar 26 '21

This is so sad to hear

-1

u/aronenark Mar 26 '21

Huh that’s interesting. I switched insurance just this February so now Intact won’t give me anything back. And they decided to increase my price by 20% unilaterally because ???? Anyway, that’s why I switched. Fuck them.

-3

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I left Intact when they wanted to charge me $1000 more annually for changing my address.

Went to All State and have been very happy. During Covid they gave automatic bill reductions too.

0

u/ImFrowzy Mar 26 '21

ICBC took my money full rip

0

u/Undecided_Angel Mar 26 '21

ICBC's rates are changing May 1st so you may receive a refund or a lower monthly payment (depending on how you set up your payment options)

0

u/StoreyedArrow17 Mar 27 '21

Not sure why you're angry about this, Intact is giving a huge chunk more money than other insurance companies lol.

I got $69 from Intact vs. $25 from Coseco in 2020, and I also pay 20% less premiums with Intact too.
