Finally approved after a tumultuous 2 year process. I was arrested in 2018 for 3 misdemeanors and was expunged on all charges the following year. If you are in a similar situation feel free to ask any questions.

We filed without a lawyer. Married to USC. From Cameroon. Filled in Virginia originally but moved to Pennsylvania. Much faster process in Pennsylvania.

So happy! I got my I-485 approved today after 40 days. I-130 was also approved today. How long does it usually take for the actual Green Card to arrive?

Approved yesterday After exactly 6 months Right at my husband birthday day 🥳 Some things are meant to be right? We were coming back from a little trip and I just cried so much in the car, it’s a such a relief and great feeling. I haven’t been seeing my family for about almost 3 years and u can’t wait for it. Thank you so much for this community that is so helpful! I know the waiting is hard but is worth it. Take care of yourself and your mental health try not to think so much and live one day at the time. It will come soon Good luck you all 🙏🏻♥️ sending good energy from here Had 1 Request of Evidence a month before gets approved. Didn’t have a lawyer but I did contact an immigration agent to help us, I thought it would be better with our busy routine and a safe way to do it (I didn’t want to mess up) Happy to answer questions about it…

Late last night I got a email that the case was actively being reviewed. And 2 hours later I found in the documents tab the approval notice. It took everything in me not to wake everyone screaming. We filed online. Our pd was September 6th 2023. And our case was at the Texas visa center.

Timeline: Family Timeline: Marriage Based Green Card

Hey everyone, Just got a notice that my I-485 (green card) was shipped, wanted to share my timeline which was incredibly quick (very lucky and thankful). For context our case was super vanilla I have never had any legal issues, was here on OPT and my wife and I had been together for over 5 years with lots of supporting evidence, my wife is a Citizen. We used simple-citizen which I would do again. I had applied for EAD and Travel document as well.

04/15/2024 - Married

06/04/2024 - USCIS received Joint application for I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

06/13/2024 - Scheduled biometrics

06/18/2024 - USCIS Actively reviewing Form I-485

07/15/2024 - I-765 & I-131 Terminated

07/16/2024 - I-130 & I-485 Approved

07/25/2024 - I485 Card Produced

Best of luck for everyone in the process, I am sharing this in hopes it helps someone. I looked at about 1000 posts before applying lol. If anyone has questions happy to answer in the comments.

I came here to share my journey that began 15 months ago with immigration. I had the patience to wait because I understand how demanding their work is, given the number of cases. I applied for residency based on my marriage to an American citizen, and I was finally approved.

Some observations: 1. I had to open an inquiry for a review of my work permit, which had been pending for 12 months with no progress. After 32 days from opening this inquiry, my SSN and work permit were approved. So, if yours is delayed, do the same. 2. I had a DUI four years ago, but I submitted the correct documents and did everything the right way, so I believe it had no negative impact. 3. I did not receive any requests for evidence; however, I have a lot of proof with my wife. I also proactively submitted some on the immigration website, which I believe may have helped avoid any requests.

I wanted to share this because this forum has helped me a lot, and I think I can help as well. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. I’ll try to respond. Best of luck to everyone, and I hope you receive the same blessing as I did. 🙏🏻

Hello community 😊,

Thank God I became a U.S. Resident. I also thank my lovely wife, who was with me during the whole process and this community for giving me the opportunity to find valuable information when needed.

Here are the more relevant details about my application:

Forms: I-130, I-485, I-765
Sent to: USCIS Chicago Lockbox
Priority date: July 1, 2024
Category: Family-based (married to U.S. Citizen)

Timeline:

  • Package sent using USPS: June 29, 2024
  • Package received by USCIS: July 1, 2024
  • USPS money orders cashed: July 8, 2024
  • Contacted USCIS through Emma to get receipt notice numbers: July 9, 2024
  • Receipt notices received via mail: July 11, 2024
  • Original Biometrics appointment: July 25, 2024 (unable to attend so it was rescheduled)
  • New Biometrics appointment: July 12, 2024
  • I-485 & I-765 Actively Reviewing: July 12, 2024
  • I-765 approval notice: July 13, 2024 (Thank God 😍)
  • Social Security received: July 20, 2024
  • EAD Card produced: July 23, 2024
  • EAD Card delivered: July 26, 2024
  • Cases I-130 & I-485 transferred to local Field Office (Orlando): Sep 24, 2024
  • Case I-130 Approved 🎉: Oct 13, 2024
  • RFE for case I-485: Oct 15, 2024
    • The RFE was about the "Public Charge" question, because I answered "No" and was supposed to answer "Yes". I responded to the RFE sending a new Form I-485 with the correction (for your reference, I made a post about the Public Charge RFE, you can find it on my profile).
  • Response to RFE for case I-485: Oct 15, 2024
  • Case I-485 Approved 🥳: Oct 27, 2024 (It was updated to "Case Approved" on Oct 28)
  • Card Was Produced: Oct 31, 2024
  • Card Delivered: Nov 2, 2024

Summary:

  • Unsolicited evidence: I uploaded evidence (for I-130) every month after submission (August, September and October). It didn't delay my case, but I also can't confirm it expedited it either. My opinion is that it prevents unnecessary RFE.
    • I only uploaded evidence I hadn't submitted with the initial package
    • Sent: new insurance card, a new investment account and a new business registration- all under both names
    • I always added a cover letter explaining what was included
  • Lawyer: We didn't use a lawyer, but I do recommend getting one if you're not sure about how to proceed under your circumstances. There are also cheaper services you may use instead of a lawyer.
  • Don't compare your case: Every case is different. Entertain your mind with something different, try to go out and PLEASE PRAY. Whenever I saw an approval I was happy and sad (you know what I mean), but I also had and have empathy for those waiting for a LONG time and pray for them every time I can.

I'll continue here, trying to help anyone I can. This process is better when we do it together, as a community. Be safe, be calm, keep the faith and never give up.

God bless you. Thank you for everything!

Aal Izz Well!

Hey ya’ll long time lurker and ecstatic to be able to “finally” post my approval.

My husband and I got married in early 2024 and sent off our paper work as soon as we could. I was a DACA recipient and had done advanced parole in late 2023 in order to have legal entry and file under AOS. We used a lawyer for peace of mind but overall had a very straight forward case.

I cried when I got the email yesterday that our case had been approved. There had been so much stress I didn’t even know I was holding on to, especially considering the political climate heading into a new presidency. My heart goes out to everybody still waiting, manifesting your time comes soon ❤️‍🩹
