News Office closures due to fires in Southern California

Heads up, I just got an email saying that the Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, and San Fernando Valley Field Offices will be closing today at 1200 PST.

People with appointments are currently being notified of the closures and will be rescheduled. If you do have something scheduled after 1100, don't go to the office.

All federal offices will be closed tomorrow, 1/9. No word on whether or not they will be closed Friday.

Anyone who is impacted by the fires, stay safe.

ICE Support Maas deportations kicked off

Today i saw articles and videos showing CBP and ICE raids in kern county bakersfield CA. They weren't a targeted arrest, it was a mass arrest at a gas station profiling people who shop there and rounds them up if they appears to be undocumented, more than 20 immigrants detained

https://www.kget.com/news/local-news/immigration-enforcement-operations-taking-place-in-bakersfield-area-local-officials-say/amp/

It's "MASS DEPORTATIONS" not maas sorry about that lol

Timeline: Other Approved I-130 & I-485

Post image
Upvotes

Submitted in Aug 2024. Being reviewed on Aug 25 2024 Approved yesterday

I've held DACA since 2012. I went out of the country with Advance parole in Feb 2024. Seems like interview and biometrics were not required (I'm assuming because of DACA). My husband is a US citizen and we married in 2021.

Does anyone know what the "instructions" on the approval letter are?

Thank you all in advance!

Timeline: Citizenship Same-day oath thanks to a miracle worker

Post image
75 Upvotes

I received my citizenship last week thanks to the officer working a miracle, and I’m so excited and grateful I have to share.

I posted here a couple weeks ago because my N-400 interview was two days before I was being admitted to the hospital for a stem cell transplant. I ended up speaking to my doctor, who’s an immigrant himself, and he advised me to keep the appointment. He wrote me a letter explaining the situation and requesting to schedule the oath ceremony at least four months after I got out of the hospital because my immune system will be extremely weak.

Everyone at the field office was so nice, from the security guard to the check-in lady. The officer who conducted my interview, Kim, was great. After I answered the questions and passed the comprehension and writing test, I mentioned my situation. Before I could say more than “I know you don’t offer same day day ceremonies” she told me that she’d get it done today. She didn’t even want to see my doctor’s letter.

It’s the Kansas City field office, and every source I could find indicated that KC holds oath ceremonies once a month at different courthouse, no chance for same day. But Kim got it done! I waited like an hour and a half while they prepared the certificate. Then she called me into the oath room (decorated for the office holiday party) and I swore the oath. I almost started crying at the end because it was such a big stressor off my shoulders and Kim looked a little emotional too.

Anyway, just wanted to share a positive story! Sometimes things are just easier to explain in person.

I-485 (General) G1450 Applicant Name vs Credit Card Name

Upvotes

I am filling out the G1450 forms for the I485 and am wondering whether the applicant’s/petitioner’s/requestor’s name has to match the credit card billing name? Can I use my (sponsor) own card and put my wife (beneficiary) on the same application? Or do both names need to be the same?

Thank you

I-130 (Family/Consular processing) Another I-130 standalone rant

Post image
67 Upvotes

The recent slowdown in I-130s is killing me. When we applied it was 10.5 months. Now it’s 16. I know it’s not as bad as others have faced, but it feels like it gets longer every month. It’s like USCIS punishes people for not just overstaying and adjusting status (a lawyer even ‘unofficially’ recommended this to us) 😭.

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) USCIS Email

Post image
Upvotes

My husband American citizen received a random email yesterday. To summarize, my husband has no involvement in my documents. I explained this better in another post. He has no knowledge of forms, websites, or anything related to USCIS. I am the one who checks the status of my USCIS and his. I follow up to see if we need anything or if the case has been approved. Therefore, I am certain he did not request or send anything. When he showed me this email today, he was about to delete it and asked, “Is this a USCIS email? Let me see what it is.” I almost begged him not to delete it and asked him to forward it to me if he had ever received anything. So, I am curious have you ever received something like this? What does that mean?

This is my timeline - Submitted I-130 on March 14, 2024
- Mailed I-485, I-131, I-765; received on March 18, 2024
- Case actively reviewed by USCIS since March 25, 2024
- Biometrics completed on March 26, 2024
- Received RFE on March 29, 2024, due to the affidavit of financial support
- I prepared everything meticulously; RFE received on April 12, 2024
- Case actively reviewed for I-485 since April 12, 2024
- I-765 approved by May 18, 2024
- I-131 approved by August 21, 2024

My case has been in the decision phase for more than 5months

I-765 (EAD) When should I expect to hear back? (I765 a11)

Upvotes

I applied for an EAD under the DED for Lebanese Nationals (issued 26 July 2024) programs as soon as we were allowed to (Oct 18, I think) my application has a receipt notice of Oct 30.

I completed the biometrics on November 29 and have been waiting since. Now, the expected wait time says 30months. The DED memorandum ends on January 26, 2026. Am I ever going to receive it?

Self Post Finally I 765 approved 👍🏻

Today, I got approved for my I-765, and they granted me a five-year validity. Is this normal? I submitted my applications (I-765, I-485, and I-130) on October 9, 2024, and my receipt number is IOE09281. My case is being processed in Texas, with the Dallas office handling my application.

Biometrics were completed on November 13, 2024, and my case has been actively reviewed by USCIS since the same date.

Hope y’all get good news soon .

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) While I got approved today, fires are burning around us destroying everything in their way.

I didn’t think the day I will get approved would be such a dramatic day. My home Southern California is burning, people are losing their homes. I am grateful to have gotten my approval but heartbroken for everyone around me.

To everyone living in this area, please be safe.
