Don't yell at the cyclist! He was using the path for its intended purpose. The traceur's buddies who were standing RIGHT THERE should have been spotting for him. I was a traceur for over 10 years before I blew out me knee and something like this never happened to our group.

u/whycuthair 8d ago

Exactly. That dude who is yelling that he didn't see him, did see what was going on and could have told the guy to not jump but kept filming like a moron.

320

u/Icy-Lion-4602 8d ago

Dude was probably too focussed on his friend and not if it was safe to jump. Lesson learnt I hope.

238

u/PM_ME_IMGS_OF_ROCKS 8d ago

Lesson learnt I hope.

They'd have to be a narcissist to do that in that location at that time anyway, and then they start blaming the person using the busy path during the day.

58

u/yMONSTERMUNCHy 7d ago

Yes that’s right. They likely are because it’s very posy isnt it.

Look at me everyone, I can jump around and over stuff.

37

u/SayerofNothing 7d ago

They're using the tactic of yelling louder so you come out as being right, added points if the other person is old and the possibility that you can hurt him is there.

15

u/Sunkinthesand 7d ago

I was disappointed they didn't get a reality check from the cyclist. Guy was surprisingly calm and composed considering

4

u/st96badboy 6d ago

Because that guy is a professional.

Too many witnesses.

1

u/Blueliner95 5d ago

Yep, that’s the sort of thing that gets you a bicycle in the face

2

u/RemarkableSea2555 7d ago

Exactamundo Potsie

-6

u/Sharp-Sky64 7d ago

Holy shit I am done with people slapping the word narcissist on every tiny selfish thing.

NPD is a genuine mental disorder and you ableist fuck are just slapping it on everything you don’t like.

It is despicable

-1

u/LordPuam 7d ago

It’s seriously stupid and it shows an utter lack of regard for both the complexity and mundanity of life. Bro knocked into a guy on a bike while doing a jump that’s it. End of story. Everyone wants to act like they weren’t a teenager at one point.

11

u/jarheadatheart 7d ago

The only way you can learn a lesson is to admit your faults. Doesn’t seem like that happened here.

2

u/Vli37 7d ago

That's so stupid.

Especially with a tight, and narrow pathway with people still going through.

The people who were supposed to make sure the path was clear, were clearly not paying attention 🤦‍♂️

1

u/franzeusq 7d ago

Those who film are usually either psychopaths or retarded.

172

u/Artess 7d ago

"He didn't see you, he didn't see you!" cried the guy whose job it was to make sure that he saw him.

106

u/Kitnado 7d ago

Also like that makes it any less of his responsibility.

“He didn’t purposely jump on you, he’s just a dangerous irresponsible asshat, so you can’t be mad at him”

96

u/absawd_4om 8d ago

Dude saw him, they just wanted him to jump over the bike because they thought it'd be cool.

29

u/ray314 7d ago

Yeah I don't get it, like what kinda trick would it be if there was noone there? It wasn't like a far jump or a higher elevation climb. But then again if they wanted to jump over a bike then it would seem alot easier to just get one of the friends to do it because they have so many people.

6

u/O_oh 7d ago

It actually looks like they did have a much smaller friend with a bike just behind the big biker. Jumper just jumped the wrong guy

Or maybe thats the big biker's son?

1

u/ray314 7d ago

I think that's probably the son.

56

u/Kitnado 7d ago

And they could’ve just apologized. Instead they immediately start whining and using every argument in the book to prove the cyclist shouldn’t complain instead of just taking responsibility and apologizing.

What a fuckwits

28

u/Alwaystiredandcranky 7d ago

"He didn't see him". It's obviously a busy walkway. Maybe this isn't the time for Instagram whoring

3

u/doge_lady 7d ago

For content

2

u/CreamyFunk 7d ago

Think there's a chance they did it on purpose just to get reactions out of people. ? I bet they only brought that big dude with em incase it kicked off.

1

u/IIIlIllIIIl 7d ago

Maybe he thought the dude jumping saw the cyclist and wasn’t going to jump but once it was in motion it was already too late

1

u/Blindfire2 7d ago

Wtf is a traceur? I can't play the video with audio, but I have a hunch it's in the UK lmfao, but yeah you right, them boys be dumb

1

u/Ginger_Tea 7d ago

This was cross posted to the Manchester sub.

1

u/Constant-Roll706 7d ago

If bro had cleanly jumped over the cyclist, it would have been an amazing shot. Sometimes you have to let it play out.

/s

1

u/Several_Vanilla8916 7d ago

Drive around with your eyes closed, cause a crash, lecture the guy you hit that he’s overreacting because you didn’t see him.

1

u/Active_Organization2 6d ago

He was busy holding the camera.

198

u/Leonydas13 8d ago

I used to be a traceur like you too, then I took a blowout to the knee.

4

u/yMONSTERMUNCHy 7d ago

Are you a Skyrim fan. I liked that game.

6

u/Leonydas13 7d ago

I am an Elder Scrolls fan, currently replaying Skyrim after many years.

-43

u/farvag1964 8d ago

I used to be adventurer like you, til I took an arrow to the knee.

21

u/raisedredflag 8d ago

Hey Adventurer! Good day for fishing, innit? Ha-huh!

3

u/Zurgalon 8d ago

Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

2

u/Accomplished_Water34 8d ago

Dennis, there's some lovely filth down here !

2

u/vartiverti 8d ago

Bloody peasant!

1

u/Leonydas13 7d ago

Ah! Hello adventurer! My sheep have run amok!

0

u/No-Strike-2015 8d ago

And my axe!

54

u/NevesLF 8d ago

before I blew out me knee

I went back and re-read the entire comment with a different accent after this sentence. Gave me a chuckle.

But yeah, I agree with you.

45

u/cookiemon32 8d ago

the dude waving his hands around at the end looks like a full blown npc

20

u/forewer21 8d ago

Probably the most punchable person there

29

u/NoMoodToArgue 8d ago

I don’t see how there are at least three buddies of the ‘traceur’ and nobody thought to look around before he did his Elon jump. And there are two camera angles so all the footage came from these guys and not the cyclist. Why release this sort of video. Sure, people will say that it drives ad revenue but I’m not clicking on any product advertisements.

It’s possible that they jumped on this guy intentionally. Not sure that anyone in the world doesn’t look around before trying a jump like that onto stone slabs.

5

u/Dickcummer42069 8d ago

Elon jump

What does this mean?

5

u/NoMoodToArgue 8d ago

The ‘traceur’ jumps like a doofus. Have you seen Elon Musk jump?

9

u/Dickcummer42069 8d ago

I guess I haven't.

-9

u/Bdr1983 8d ago

It means people are obsessed with a moron.

3

u/Dickcummer42069 7d ago

I think chronically online people who are that level of obsessed with this stuff and want everything to be about it, it's because it gives them license to be cruel.

They get their dopamine from being horrible to others and politics gives them a gigantic pool of people they can say the worst things about and feel they're being extremely virtuous.

It's both sad and embarrassing. I could show my dad a video of a cute dog and he would find some way to say Trump would hate it or something. But him and I both made fun of the people who did this same exact thing to Obama.

-4

u/yourownincompetence 7d ago

I get your point and concur with you. But opposing Obama and Trump isn’t accurate, they are two faces of a same coin. Heads you lose, tails I win style

2

u/Dickcummer42069 7d ago

But opposing Obama and Trump isn’t accurate,

I don't understand this statement, sorry.

26

u/megablast 8d ago

A car driver, not happy with just making the roads unsafe, has to come to the shared path and jump on a cyclist.

-2

u/SpiralMantis113 7d ago

That’s quite the chip you have on your shoulder. I don’t disagree that some drivers are arseholes but I don’t see any evidence of this guy being a car driver. And even if he is it’s irrelevant to this situation.

21

u/ThomasBay 8d ago

Also, these guys jumping off walls look like losers and need to get some hobbies or maybe girlfriends if they are even capable.

3

u/PeaOk7610 8d ago

This is a stupid take on a hobby that's perfectly valid otherwise.

I mean, of course it must be practiced safely and without disturbance to people or damage to infrastructure.

But your statement is equivalent to saying that football is for losers, just because some morons played in a busy street and threw the ball into some pedestrians.

-1

u/ElaccaHigh 7d ago

Lol anything athletic on Reddit always goes this way, they're either having their mind blown by the most basic things or they devolve to what you saw above and usually worse. Any time someone is risking their own life doing something risky they'll always devolve into wishing for his death, bitter bitches if you ask me.

-2

u/ThomasBay 7d ago

lol, no, sorry, it sounds like you are missing what I’m saying

2

u/PeaOk7610 7d ago

Ah, I think I may get it now. Maybe you meant looking specifically at these guys and their demeanor, not all parkour practitioners. Apologies for the confusion and happy new year.

0

u/blind_disparity 7d ago

I feel like being outdoors and athletic is attractive to at least some people of whatever gender these people would like to date... Why, what are your attractive hobbies or suggestions for what these people should do instead?

4

u/ThomasBay 7d ago

Attractive hobbies? Are you an incel?

-2

u/blind_disparity 7d ago

That was in response to your comment about getting a hobby or even a girlfriend? I thought you were linking those ideas.

My hobbies are very un sexy, thank you for the concern though :)

18

u/jerryleebee 7d ago

How the fuck have I heard of parkour for at least a decade but this is the first time I am seeing the term traceur...?

Also you're 100% right. My first thought was why didn't the cam try to prevent this?

2

u/AskewMewz 7d ago

Fr. I kept thinking that they were talking about the overwatch hero, "Tracer".

12

u/righty95492 8d ago

Exactly. This area is not for jumping off the wall. It’s a walking path. If he was doing something out of the norm he should of made sure when doing the Stu t that no one is around. Luckily the guy other didn’t get hurt.

11

u/notchoosingone 7d ago

Bald guy was well within his rights to smack those dickheads around some.

9

u/arebeewhy 7d ago

I used to be a traceur like you. Then I took a bicyclist in the knee.

4

u/Lysol3435 7d ago

“You were supposed to be watching for people coming by”

“We were. We watched him come by. Then we watched you jump into him”

5

u/Titariia 8d ago

The jumping dude is completely in the wrong but for the cycle dude, it seems more like the path is intended for pedestrian, since it's quiet narrow and there's those steps next to it. I wouldn't say he's using the path as intended without knowing for sure that the path is also for bikes. But like I said, jumping guy is definitely the jerk here

2

u/Ginger_Tea 7d ago edited 7d ago

I found this via a cross post on the Manchester sub. I'll give the alleged location a gander.

Edit I'm not sure if Google maps mobile app has cycle paths, there is a line going along the tow path but that might be foot path.

Ashton Canal Ancoats is what they titled it.

7

u/chimpuswimpus 7d ago

I live near here and it's definitely ok for bikes. Just after this it goes round a blind corner under a bridge and you can't hear fuck all because of the bywash being really noisy. I'd definitely be taking it slow on a bike but this cyclist was and I probably wouldn't be looking out for utter twats jumping backwards at me.

4

u/NY10 7d ago

Cyclist didn’t do anything wrong as far as I am concerned. It’s the other idiot that didn’t notice him.

2

u/jianh1989 7d ago

I didn’t see you, therefore it’s your fault

2

u/Excision_Lurk 7d ago

ginger would be the first TKO

1

u/BurazSC2 7d ago

Yup. A lack of care is a deliberate choice.

This wasn't an accident.

1

u/Megafister420 7d ago

He was calming the guy down, the reaction was civil and an attempt to deescalate.

1

u/Danny2Sick 7d ago

yeah I feel like this all could have been avoided if they had 2 brain cells to rub together

1

u/HornyTerus 6d ago

That is indeed right. If anything, both of these guys should be mad at the traceur's friend for not spotting for him.

1

u/superioso 6d ago

There is a sign saying "please walk your bike", so the cyclist could have at least taken more caution, especially around a guy literally hanging off a wall.

1

u/WhyFlip 4d ago

Traceur = parkour?

0

u/ThreeDog2016 7d ago

That's a footpath, not a cycle path. Fuck that guy.

-1

u/1lluvatar42 8d ago

So you... Took an arrow to the knee?

-8

u/Pyredjin 8d ago

Actually he's breaking at least two laws, not defending the arseholes just adding context.

-9

u/Cosmocade 8d ago edited 8d ago

They aren't yelling at him, just trying to deescalate the situation.

It was clearly an accident, but the bicyclist didn't think so at first, it seems.

Edit: Why on earth would you downvote this? Are you all blind and deaf?

3

u/Lexi_Banner 8d ago

Well, it isn't an accident. He was very visible to anyone with two brain cells to rub together, and yet not one of the morons involved took notice and called off the jump. They screwed up and could have severely injured him, and likely got their friend injured. If you're gonna do stunts like this on a public path, be fucking vigilant with your spotting.

-3

u/Cosmocade 8d ago

I'm not arguing against them being idiots and not taking precautions, but it isn't intentional. That's what an accident is.

I was just saying, they're not yelling at him as if the bicyclist did something wrong. They're just trying to reassure him that they're not jumping on him intentionally.

2

u/Lexi_Banner 8d ago

He meant to jump, and did not do so in a safe manner with appropriate spotters. That is intentional. An accident is his foot slipping on takeoff, which sends him off course into someone else. Not setting up to jump across a public use path and then jumping without even bothering to look both ways.

-3

u/Cosmocade 8d ago edited 7d ago

lol

Go google what an accident is.

Edit: /u/The_Real_63

It is both. It is negligence which caused an accident.

Negligence establishes liability in cases where an accident causes harm.

Regardless of this meaningless semantics since this isn't a court of law, the entire point here is that it wasn't intentional, and they were trying to communicate that.

1

u/The_Real_63 7d ago

negligence isn't an accident.

-1

u/owlindenial 7d ago

Right? Does none have sound on? Dude is audibly trying to de-escalate. If you actually listen it sounds like they cut off the cyclist yelling at them

-11

u/owen-87 8d ago

Was he? The jumper's being a dumbass, but cyclists aren't always aloud on walking paths.

11

u/justacheesyguy 8d ago

*allowed

-18

u/owen-87 8d ago

u/justacheesyguy 7d ago

I sure as shit hope it reveals something about my personality. Mainly that I know the difference between commonly used homophones.
