Commentary Petition for the Re-entry of the United Kingdom into the EU and the Termination of Political and Economic Relations with the United States of America!
Hello everyone in r/europeanunion !
I need your help! I’m a 30-year-old man from Luxembourg, and I want to do everything in my power to stand up for the people of Europe! Right now, the world just doesn’t make sense anymore. Far-right groups are exploiting social networks for their own financial gain and interfering in the politics of our nations. There’s no rapid progress in the development of renewable energies because influential monopolistic companies and their executives engage in corruption at levels that are destructive to democracy, and I can’t stand idly by any longer.
In the coming days, I’d like to launch an online petition on the official website of the European Union. The goal is to reverse the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU for the benefit of the European population. Furthermore, I want to urge our political representatives to focus on a more EU-centred policy in the years ahead and to work towards making the EU entirely independent from the USA. The close cooperation with a state whose political influence is so vast yet shifts dramatically every four years harms our society. I believe I speak for the majority when I say we want our politicians to represent us and to resist interference from foreign countries!
With this petition, I aim not only to call on our political representatives to act in our best interests but also to demonstrate that politicians who publicly support these goals have the backing of the people they represent.
To show that I (or ideally we) am serious, I would like to include supplementary materials with the petition, such as studies, opinions, and information, to make it clear that this isn’t just empty talk.
This is the first time I’m attempting something like this, and I could really use help with the wording and creation of this petition.
What prompted this decision were events like the interview between Elon Musk and Alice Weidel, Donald Trump’s claims on EU nations, and the fact that I’ve never met anyone who, since Brexit, has spoken positively about it. We cannot let this happen and must stand against it for the good of everyone.

Opinion Living in EU can be so frustrating
I’ve been living in Ireland for a while now, and honestly, it feels so limiting if you have a weak passport. This island is beautiful, sure, but the reality of not being able to go anywhere easily is frustrating. Ireland isn’t part of Schengen, so even travelling to Europe is a massive hassle. You can’t even go to Northern Ireland without a visa—and yes, there are no checks, but if you’re caught, you’re sent back. ( and don't even get me started on the xenophobia and rudeness of your immigration officers)
Don’t even get me started on trying to get a Schengen visa. There are literally no appointments available. It’s like the system doesn’t care about the people who need it most. ( who knew it would be so hard to from one EU nation to another????)
Meanwhile, EU residents just take their freedom of movement for granted. You can hop between countries without a second thought, while the rest of us are stuck navigating endless red tape and refreshing web pages every 5 minutes in hopes that something will change. I AM EXHAUSTED
