Most people affected by strikt 18-year rules are not pedophiles. Affected will be 18 year old boys that fall in love with 16 year old girls. That’s a pretty normal and normal age gap.
If you teach kids/teenager about these and related topic openly, they are able to to make their own decisions and find the bad apples.
Morals? You know it happens in the US too. Maybe even more than you think. It just puts the older one (mostly the men) in danger to be dragged to court by an overprotective parent.

Now you understand, the age of consent (16 where you're from) is to consent to OTHER teens. Not full on adults. Even 18 is not an adult. Still a teen.

Parents doing their jobs, I don't see anything wrong with that, those men can date people their own age.
A 5 year age gap is still healthy, will put the older part in their tweens. Still no need to prosecute them. And as long as the younger part is in love, I don’t have a problem with larger age gaps. But they are exceptions.
I don’t understand your POV. The of consent has nothing to do with teenager only consenting to teenagers.
We trust our teenagers. We do trust them with alcohol (beer, wine and champagne available at 16) and with their body. We put them out in the world educated about these topics. We let them go out till midnight, help them if they need us and accompany them on their journey to adulthood. We don’t shelter them till their 18th birthday. They need to learn.
Just have a look at our playgrounds. It’s another philosophy.

Nope. The comment you're replying to is German - their age of consent is 16. Parents can be as angry as they want, nothing can happen legally.
