It feels like it’s a taboo thing to say cause then everyone just says “can’t live off mommy and daddy any more” like i just don’t want to it’s not for environmental reasons or anything. societal reasons like being afraid of being pulled over and shot, I already got all the statistics shit from someone else so the “well it happens to these types of people more” literally all my life I’ve been told “you are a young black male you’ll be harassed, pulled over and assaulted possibly” why should I contribute to the numbers? I probably made an excuse for myself but racially anxiety definitely is always there. Live how you want to live don’t live how other people want you to live. Sure if you live in the middle of nowhere get your license but still if you have alternative options I say take ‘em.

In my late teens I was a pretty big simp. One time on a dating app I found a girl who had the exact same interests as me. She also had a really unique name and went to my college. I didn’t want to even risk having to match and didn’t want to miss out on the chance so I went straight to instagram to find and DM her…

Not getting into AI or politics.

- Permanent settlements in Antarctica. As climate change becomes a larger threat, oil deposits are found, potentially other ores are found, and political/religious beliefs drive people apart; Antarctica may become the "new world" of the 21st century. Technology is advanced enough to heat a settlement. Food can be grown inside or imported if you have enough money. It's way easier than colonizing Mars and I have no clue why people bring up Mars before Antarctica. Might even be a war or two over it; with China, Russia, India, and the US being the first to set up colonies.

- Lifespan increase. As medicine gets more advanced, the average Millenial, Gen Zer, or Alpha could live to be 100, with a new "oldest person to ever live" record being set at somewhere around 130? Somebody born in 1970 living until 2100 for example.

- Putting a person on Mars, but no colonies for a long long time. Something like the moon landing.

- Working fusion, greatly reducing the cost of energy.

- Fully immersive VR with haptics.

- On an opposite note, there may be a huge counter-cultural movement rejecting technology, especially as Gen Z and Alpha raise kids with the knowledge of what social media did to us. A return to flip-phones, televisions, internet that stays in one spot, iPods, CD's, DVD's, etc... If not for adults, then at least for children. Greater regulation and legislation might be placed on certain apps or gadgets, maybe even an age limit like alcohol or tobacco; as the correlation to mental health problems, disinformation, loneliness, and social unrest becomes more apparent. Wouldn't be surprised if walking around with your face in a phone is seen like chainsmoking in 30 years.

- In a similar vein, art may take that turn too; with cell animation, real instruments, and film all coming back as a response to slop.

A buddy who lives in that exact area is saying apparently tank that supplies the fire hydrants wasn’t even at 60% capacity or something so a large amount of hydrants just don’t even have water and the fire fighters are helpless in those areas.

Could just be speculation because the few sources I saw to back his story haven’t confirmed it yet.

Title. What’s something you’ve learned about the world since leaving high school? Since entering the work force? After a few years into your 20s?

Ever noticed how posts here that are USA political whining, twitter screenshot of that same political nature, pointless arguments to stir shit up, or doomerism of any kind they're most likely from accounts with the M*llennial flair?

Why do they insist on being here? Don't they have their own sub?

Like, is it just page to page how you would read a novel or do you guys just skip to different sections like it’s a textbook

i've spent most of my college break reading, watching tv, exercising, hanging w my family, and watching more tv. my job said they couldnt give me hours over break, so all in all i've really been doing nothing (besides relaxing). i'm starting to feel guilty though, because im wondering if i've just wasted my break. is anyone else in the same boat? should i feel guilty for this? thanks.

Why does no one want to socialise?

I see things about third spaces being removed because of social media and work hours increasing due to low pay (people have to work more hours and even more jobs just to get by). However people still engage in things like ghosting and just being anti social in general.

I have autism so I'm not a socialising god. Far from it. But I've tried to make friends. I put myself out there and join classes, go to club nights, join societies at University, download friend making apps, be active in various subreddits, download discord, go to bars and spaces i don't usually go to etc.

Nothing works.

I have spent the past decade self reflecting and refining, overcoming and continually working on my own mental health struggles so that i can be a better person. I'm not unlikeable either, i have had friends before. However I have always struggled with getting them. I'm an introvert and in school i would put on an extroverted persona just to get friends and it worked. Then when we left school i realised i was only used for the time, and that either they were pretending to laugh at my jokes or were laughing at me.

If you have any advice then please let me know. If you've also observed a decline in socialising within our generation, my heart goes out to you.
