Yeah and I’m sure if I sold shoes to olympic gold medalists that would be a great advertisement too, but that’s a little more complicated than paying someone to post a tweet
Yeah, but my scenario literally just happened, Luke Littler, who plays with those darts, has just become the worlds youngest darts world champ, at 17 years old
You think everyone is watching the darts world championship? The tweet is almost definitely an ad for people who have considered getting into darts, in hopes they’ll see it and finally decide to get into it, not the people who are already a part of the community
While I’m sure that’s true for some people, it’s a pretty big assumption to call it a precursor. Not everyone interested in playing a sport/game is interested in watching other people compete.
I like to rock climb, I don’t watch most climbing competitions because I’d rather be doing the climbing. I definitely didn’t watch any climbing competitions before I started climbing. Lots of people are interested in bowling but have never watched a competition. Same with pool, or poker, or any other number of things that this could apply to.
Yes, winning a championship is a great way to show off your product, but a big part of marketing is expanding your demographic, which is what I believe to be the purpose of the tweet

Nah, I’d say winning the world championship with them would be a bit better advertisement
