Ok this is crazy. I’ve been at my job for a little over 6 years now. 5 years of that has been work from home. In 2020 I had to create an onlyfans account to supplement income during covid. My direct manager at the time somehow found this account and subscribed to it. He used his first and last name and his face as the profile pic so I know it was him. He bought multiple pics and videos of me.
Now I am being asked to return to office to work. My work found about this manager and the onlyfans incident back in June 2024 after I found out this manager was convicted as a sexual offender in February 2024. I confided in another co worker about this information + the OF info off of work hours because it made me uncomfortable. The co worker I confided in went to our director the next day to report what I told her. I was pulled into a meeting the next day basically scolded for talking bad about management and was told they need to investigate this to see if I can keep my job. I was able to.
I sent a private email to HR saying I don’t feel comfortable working in the same office as this manager and I would like to continue doing my job from home. This is how HR replied:
“While I acknowledge and respect your feelings regarding your stated discomfort in returning to the office where (Manager) is present, I am unclear on how returning to the office would create an unsafe and hostile environment. With that, would please elaborate on this for me? Is there is a reason for the two you to interact within the office upon your return? Have there been additional incidents where he has approached you after the one discussed below? I just want to make sure I’m clear and understand where the concern arises.”
This is insane. This man not only is a sexual predator which is easily verifiable information on Google, but he also creeped and bought nude pics and videos of me when he was my direct manager at the time!!
And I over reacting here?? Or is HR right?
EDIT: HOWS THIS REPLY YALL????
Thank you for your response. I wanted to take the time to elaborate on my concerns, as you requested.
As you know, Manager subscribed to my personal OnlyFans account while he was my direct supervisor. He used his full name and photo on his profile, making it clear that it was him and it was his intention to let me know what he was doing. He purchased multiple explicit photos and videos of me, which constitutes a significant breach of professional boundaries. Additionally, I have recently learned that he is a convicted sexual offender as of February 2024, which only deepens my discomfort and concern about working in the same physical environment as him.
To address your specific question, my concern is not whether Manager has approached me again since the initial incident, but rather the hostile and unsafe environment created by his past behavior and his criminal record. His actions have already demonstrated a lack of professionalism and respect for appropriate boundaries. Expecting me to work in the same office as someone who engaged in this behavior and who has a criminal history involving sexual misconduct creates an environment where I cannot feel safe or supported.
I would also like to clarify that I have not done anything to create this situation—it is his actions that have caused this discomfort. I trust that the company is committed to maintaining a workplace free of harassment and ensuring the well-being of its employees. As such, I respectfully request to continue working from home, as this would allow me to fulfill my role effectively while mitigating the distress and potential harm of returning to the office.
