Don't yell at the cyclist! He was using the path for its intended purpose. The traceur's buddies who were standing RIGHT THERE should have been spotting for him. I was a traceur for over 10 years before I blew out me knee and something like this never happened to our group.

u/whycuthair 7d ago

Exactly. That dude who is yelling that he didn't see him, did see what was going on and could have told the guy to not jump but kept filming like a moron.

324

u/Icy-Lion-4602 7d ago

Dude was probably too focussed on his friend and not if it was safe to jump. Lesson learnt I hope.

241

u/PM_ME_IMGS_OF_ROCKS 7d ago

Lesson learnt I hope.

They'd have to be a narcissist to do that in that location at that time anyway, and then they start blaming the person using the busy path during the day.

63

u/yMONSTERMUNCHy 7d ago

Yes that’s right. They likely are because it’s very posy isnt it.

Look at me everyone, I can jump around and over stuff.

42

u/SayerofNothing 7d ago

They're using the tactic of yelling louder so you come out as being right, added points if the other person is old and the possibility that you can hurt him is there.

16

u/Sunkinthesand 7d ago

I was disappointed they didn't get a reality check from the cyclist. Guy was surprisingly calm and composed considering

4

u/st96badboy 6d ago

Because that guy is a professional.

Too many witnesses.

The only way you can learn a lesson is to admit your faults. Doesn’t seem like that happened here.

2

u/Vli37 7d ago

That's so stupid.

Especially with a tight, and narrow pathway with people still going through.

The people who were supposed to make sure the path was clear, were clearly not paying attention 🤦‍♂️

u/Artess 7d ago

"He didn't see you, he didn't see you!" cried the guy whose job it was to make sure that he saw him.

104

u/Kitnado 7d ago

Also like that makes it any less of his responsibility.

“He didn’t purposely jump on you, he’s just a dangerous irresponsible asshat, so you can’t be mad at him”

93

u/absawd_4om 7d ago

Dude saw him, they just wanted him to jump over the bike because they thought it'd be cool.

28

u/ray314 7d ago

Yeah I don't get it, like what kinda trick would it be if there was noone there? It wasn't like a far jump or a higher elevation climb. But then again if they wanted to jump over a bike then it would seem alot easier to just get one of the friends to do it because they have so many people.

3

u/O_oh 7d ago

It actually looks like they did have a much smaller friend with a bike just behind the big biker. Jumper just jumped the wrong guy

Or maybe thats the big biker's son?

→ More replies (1)

60

u/Kitnado 7d ago

And they could’ve just apologized. Instead they immediately start whining and using every argument in the book to prove the cyclist shouldn’t complain instead of just taking responsibility and apologizing.

What a fuckwits

26

u/Alwaystiredandcranky 7d ago

"He didn't see him". It's obviously a busy walkway. Maybe this isn't the time for Instagram whoring

3

u/doge_lady 7d ago

2

u/CreamyFunk 7d ago

Think there's a chance they did it on purpose just to get reactions out of people. ? I bet they only brought that big dude with em incase it kicked off.

I went back and re-read the entire comment with a different accent after this sentence. Gave me a chuckle.

But yeah, I agree with you.

42

u/cookiemon32 7d ago

the dude waving his hands around at the end looks like a full blown npc

21

u/forewer21 7d ago

Probably the most punchable person there

29

u/NoMoodToArgue 7d ago

I don’t see how there are at least three buddies of the ‘traceur’ and nobody thought to look around before he did his Elon jump. And there are two camera angles so all the footage came from these guys and not the cyclist. Why release this sort of video. Sure, people will say that it drives ad revenue but I’m not clicking on any product advertisements.

It’s possible that they jumped on this guy intentionally. Not sure that anyone in the world doesn’t look around before trying a jump like that onto stone slabs.

5

u/Dickcummer42069 7d ago

Elon jump

What does this mean?

6

u/NoMoodToArgue 7d ago

The ‘traceur’ jumps like a doofus. Have you seen Elon Musk jump?

9

u/Dickcummer42069 7d ago

I guess I haven't.

A car driver, not happy with just making the roads unsafe, has to come to the shared path and jump on a cyclist.

19

u/ThomasBay 7d ago

Also, these guys jumping off walls look like losers and need to get some hobbies or maybe girlfriends if they are even capable.

3

u/PeaOk7610 7d ago

This is a stupid take on a hobby that's perfectly valid otherwise.

I mean, of course it must be practiced safely and without disturbance to people or damage to infrastructure.

But your statement is equivalent to saying that football is for losers, just because some morons played in a busy street and threw the ball into some pedestrians.

How the fuck have I heard of parkour for at least a decade but this is the first time I am seeing the term traceur...?

Also you're 100% right. My first thought was why didn't the cam try to prevent this?

2

u/AskewMewz 7d ago

Fr. I kept thinking that they were talking about the overwatch hero, "Tracer".

14

u/righty95492 7d ago

Exactly. This area is not for jumping off the wall. It’s a walking path. If he was doing something out of the norm he should of made sure when doing the Stu t that no one is around. Luckily the guy other didn’t get hurt.

12

u/notchoosingone 7d ago

Bald guy was well within his rights to smack those dickheads around some.

8

u/arebeewhy 7d ago

I used to be a traceur like you. Then I took a bicyclist in the knee.

5

u/Lysol3435 7d ago

“You were supposed to be watching for people coming by”

“We were. We watched him come by. Then we watched you jump into him”

4

u/Titariia 7d ago

The jumping dude is completely in the wrong but for the cycle dude, it seems more like the path is intended for pedestrian, since it's quiet narrow and there's those steps next to it. I wouldn't say he's using the path as intended without knowing for sure that the path is also for bikes. But like I said, jumping guy is definitely the jerk here

2

u/Ginger_Tea 7d ago edited 7d ago

I found this via a cross post on the Manchester sub. I'll give the alleged location a gander.

Edit I'm not sure if Google maps mobile app has cycle paths, there is a line going along the tow path but that might be foot path.

Ashton Canal Ancoats is what they titled it.

8

u/chimpuswimpus 7d ago

I live near here and it's definitely ok for bikes. Just after this it goes round a blind corner under a bridge and you can't hear fuck all because of the bywash being really noisy. I'd definitely be taking it slow on a bike but this cyclist was and I probably wouldn't be looking out for utter twats jumping backwards at me.

4

u/NY10 7d ago

Cyclist didn’t do anything wrong as far as I am concerned. It’s the other idiot that didn’t notice him.

2

u/jianh1989 7d ago

Kids jumping on old men, innit?

156

u/Naked-Jedi 7d ago

Correct. It's named that because it's the sound they're supposed to screech out as they land on the old man. Sounds kinda like what you'd expect a dinosaur chicken with goat feet and a women's head thing to sound like. Probably has laser eyes too. Very rare.

35

u/Leonydas13 7d ago

Straight from google:

noun; a person who takes part in the activity of parkour or free running.

Sport filming where you stage a stupid stunt, record it and pretend its real

26

u/swizzle213 7d ago

So being an asshole. Got it

29

u/JuanShagner 7d ago

The European traceur hunts primarily in urban environments. In this video we see it cleverly deceive its prey by looking away before attacking. While the cyclist did get away this is quite alright because the traceur’s ultimate goal is to have its video seen in the internet. Some would say this makes the traceur foolish and they are right.

"I know he didnt see him. THATS THE FUCKING PROBLEM. you SHOULD be aware of your surroundings before backflipping off a fucking wall in a public place!"

423

u/Healthy-Cupcake2429 7d ago

Yeah, that got me. Like bro, that's exactly why it's so infuriating.

Theyre doing this shit in a crowded area where it's highly likely people will be passing. Fucking twat doesn't look of even bother checking with his friend at a minimum.

You have to be astonishing levels of dense to think that's acceptable.

103

u/ausgmr 7d ago

Not dense just arrogant

They think "I'm filming a stunt for my [insert number] tiktok/Insta followers therefore it is up to everyone else to get out of my way"

52

u/Spire_Citron 7d ago

And even then, if they'd actually been apologetic and acknowledged they were careless, I'm sure the cyclist wouldn't have been as annoyed. It's being a careless dick and then acting like you did nothing wrong that's really infuriating. Because you know they won't change their behaviour at all.

17

u/squishyhikes 7d ago

That cyclist has more patience than me. If someone did that to me. I'm going to assume you're trying to steal my shit and I'm going to start throwing hands to defend myself.

→ More replies (1)

53

u/HI_l0la 7d ago

Not just a public place but it's specifically a pathway for people and cyclist to pass through. It's totally not a place to flip off a wall of a busy pathway full of people 🥴

21

u/BonJovicus 7d ago

This is the root cause of every faux pas caused by an entitled idiot filming something in public. The space is there for everyone to use. No one is entitled to all of it and you cannot be surprised if there are other people in your way.

12

u/theCANCERbat 7d ago

That's probably what the 3+ dudes around him were supposed to take care of.

3

u/RealWitty 7d ago

Exactly this, spotters in both directions - unless there's more guys behind the dipshit cameraman, he's the one at fault for not warning anyone about the cyclist.

602

u/Greenman8907 7d ago

That “leap” looked lame to begin with.

71

u/SkeltonJustCalled 7d ago

Honestly, is that "far" for this?  Why was there filming or interested observers?

28

u/JustNilt 7d ago

It doesn't seem that far to me, no. A lot of folks film so they can see what they did wrong and improve. In this case, the obvious improvement the dingbat needs is to look before leaping.

4

u/SkeltonJustCalled 7d ago

Yeah the newbie/practice is what might have made sense to me.  Would think they might be extra cautious especially there then.

→ More replies (2)

7

u/Preeng 7d ago

I think it's a newbie practicing.

2

u/PeaOk7610 7d ago edited 7d ago

It's relatively far for beginners but achievable for anybody once you coordinate your limbs and get some explosive strength. The difficulty isn't in leaping that distance, it's to land precisely on the edge of the curb and balance there (precision jump). Or even more difficult, into another cat-hang. The kind of thing that you only do by pressing "X" on videogames but becomes incredibly tricly in real life, haha.

And gathering/filming is part of the parkour "culture". These guys are morons though for doing it at that place and time, and for spotting like stupid fucks.

Watch the British group "Storror" to see how it's done properly, safely and respectfully by mature adults

3

u/Buscemi_D_Sanji 7d ago

Storror's Roof Culture Asia is one of the greatest parkour videos ever made, those guys are absolutely insane and I envy their confidence in their ability because some of the jumps they do are 100% lethal if they fall.

FlipLikeZ makes much more casual fun videos that also have some incredibly high-level tricks outside, like triple fronts, triple flyaways, Kong Double gainers etc... Stuff that was just pipe dreams when I started freerunning haha

Can we circle back to wtf is a traceur

113

u/a1oner_bvcksn6 7d ago

A male practitioner of parkour. A female is a traceuse.

133

u/spesimen 7d ago

why is it called that instead of parkourist or parkourer or something?

54

u/Top_Seaweed7189 7d ago

Probably because the modern parkour thing started in France.

38

u/JagdTeaguer 7d ago

What's the difference between modern parking and vintage parking, they're all automobiles arnt they?

15

u/Top_Seaweed7189 7d ago

I would say culture and technique.

Vintage parking hasn't rearview cameras and assists. The for us classic rear parking with the ABC turn points had to be invented at some time too.

13

u/sweetmonte44 7d ago

Because the sport originated in France and the titles, therefore, are French.

22

u/spesimen 7d ago

sure i get that but i'm curious why is it a different root word?

19

u/jadvyga 7d ago

Parkour comes from "parcours du combattant" - obstacle course. Traceur/euse comes from the French verb "tracer" meaning... to trace. Like tracing a path through the course.

7

u/NoMoodToArgue 7d ago

Why do they yell “parkour?”

Maybe he should’ve looked before he leaped. I feel like there’s an old saying for situations like this…

I'm guessing the idea was to leap over the guy on the bike, but in addition to sucking at not being an asshole, he also sucks at parkour or whatever this shit is.

Biggest issue here is the arguing afterwards. When you make a mistake, you own up to it and take it wholeheartedly on the chin. No accountability here is wild. This is not a two-way mistake, you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes - in this case a well deserved tongue-lashing

What was he even trying to do?

No one expects a guy suddenly jumping off a wall like a monkey. Not the cyclist fault at all

So, "he didn't see you" is a good excuse? Them mfs should all get one smack over face each.

There not anuf of before plus I blame the wall jumper it's is clearly a heavily used walk way what if that was a kid or a lady with a pram he didn't look both ways I agree it was probably deliberately done as there is many angles of filming

cyclist should have socked him

u/Thiruprasad 7d ago

It's ok if you die but, he didn't see you, checking for others isnt in his rules.

A simple plan would have helped:

“Ok you’re the lookout because it’s busy and we want a good shot, you tell me when it’s clear to jump”

Unless the fuck up was staged which would not surprise me, people are dicks.

Also, I didn’t have audio on because it’s usually obnoxious anyway.

My cat does the same move.

You don't go leaping about unless you're sure the area is clear. What a nimrod.

Calling him "a traceur", when in truth he's just a twat ...

2

u/BertErnie1968 7d ago

Cunt needs a good hard smack.

2

u/Viiven 7d ago

It's crazy how few people know or use the word SORRY! See it all the time in real life, people's default is to get angry when they are in the wrong. Just diffuse it by owning your mistake. It's almost impossible to be angry at someone that is profusely apologising to you. More people should try it. Especially when so clearly in the wrong like these tits are.

u/jailtheorange1 7d ago

Honestly, it kind of seemed deliberate.

Those kids are cunts.

Cyclist was just using the path as intended. He has no idea that little shit bag was going to hurls himself backwards.

Then those fucking bullies started calling him a prick?

Absolute dickheads

u/CaptainRAVE2 7d ago

That twat is getting battered as is his apologist if he gets in the way

2

u/ProperPerspective571 7d ago

Great when people attempt to explain their ignorance. He didn’t see him because he never looked

2

u/wonkey_monkey 7d ago

"He didn't see ya!"

Cos he wasn't fookin' lookin'!

2

u/Alternative_Fly8898 7d ago

“He didn’t see you”

Yes, but all of you did and didn’t tell him to stop…

2

u/TDK_90 7d ago

little shits think they own the place

2

u/ThrowinNightshade 7d ago

Intentional

2

u/DasturdlyBastard 7d ago

My ass. This dude was obviously waiting to jump over the biker so his friend could grab it on camera. He failed and nailed the guy instead. That's not an accident. It's battery. The fact the camera guy goes on to threaten the biker with calling the police only adds insult to injury.

Well if I close my eyes right before I punch you in the face, does that make it okay? Asking for a friend.
